The singer and actress was born Lea Michele Sarfati on August 29, 1986, in the New York borough of the Bronx, to Edith Thomasina, a retired nurse, and Mark David Sarfati, a real estate agent. While her mother is Italian American, her father is a Sephardic Jew. She was, however, raised in the Catholic faith of her mother.

Michele was raised in the Bronx until the age of four when her family moved to New Jersey. She received her elementary education from Rockland Country Day School in New York. After she miraculously began acting in 1995, Michele was homeschooled for a while before she later went to Tenafly High School where she was a part of the school choir as well as the volleyball and debate teams. Much later, she got accepted into the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts but decided against attending in order to concentrate on her career.

One of Lea Michele’s early works was on the Broadway show, Ragtime in 1997. She later got a voice role for Christina in the film Buster & Chauncey’s Silent Night (1998) and then on TV, she appeared in Third Watch (2000) before later going on to appear as Rachel Berry in Glee from 2009 to 2015.

With many more appearances on several other TV shows, films, and stage productions, Michele also has two musical albums; Louder, which was released in 2014, and Places, released in 2017. Also, she has published two books; Brunette Ambition (2014) and You First: Journal Your Way to Your Best Life (2015).

In 2008, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith were cast on Glee as love interests. A few years down the line, the two took it off the TV and began dating in real life. Unfortunately, in 2013, after just one year into the relationship, Monteith died from drug overdose.

The following year, she met Matthew Paetz on the set of her music video and soon after began dating. Their relationship lasted for about two years before they decided to call it quits. After that, she moved on to start dating Zandy Reich, who had reportedly been her friend for some time.

Reich is a very private individual who has not let out so much about his life since he is not a celebrity of the sort. However, it is known that he is the president of AYR, a clothing line that was founded in 2014. He is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania as well as the Wharton School of Business.

In 2018, Michele announced that she was engaged to Reich, meaning that instead of just being her partner, the businessman may soon become her husband.

Since the death of Cory Monteith, who acted as Finn Hudson in Glee, Lea Michele, who was both his off-screen and on-screen girlfriend in the musical comedy-drama television series, has always tried to keep his memory alive. She did not do this by only leaving tributes on her Instagram page, but by also getting herself tattooed.

The actress has three tattoos in memory of her late boyfriend. She has an underarm tattoo of the jersey number of Finn Hudson, who played as the quarterback of William McKinley High School’s football team in Glee. Another tattoo lies underneath her rib cage with the words “I love you more. If you say so…” The inscription is supposedly the last words exchanged between the two. Her last tattoo in honor of Monteith is at the back of her left hip where she has the name “Finn” inked.

Following the death of her grandmother in 2016, Michele put a tattoo of a coffee cup on her finger in order to always remember her grandma who gave her her first cup of coffee when she was a girl of only 8.
