Baseball is one of the most celebrated sports activities in the world and Lenny Dykstra is among the players who have not only contributed to the game but have also cemented their names in the history of baseball.

Rise to Fame and Career Attainments

Leonard Kyle Dykstra was born on February 10th 1963 in Santa Ana, California. His talent in baseball has always been visible as long as anyone could remember. Lenny was signed by The Mets in 1981 and in 1983, he led the Carolina League as a star in the minors in at-bats, runs, hits, triples, batting average, and stolen bases.

In that same season, he affirmed his worth hitting, .358 with 8HR, 81 RBI, and 105 stolen bases which became a league record that lasted 17 years. This and other feats earned him the Carolina League’s MVP, assuring his status as one of Met’s most prized prospects. If you ask Billy Beane, Lenny’s friend and teammate to comment on the secret’s of Lenny Dykstra’s success in baseball, he’d assert that the man doesn’t believe in failure and was meant to play the game.

After a remarkable performance in 1985, Lenny Dykstra was promoted to the major league to play for the Mets after the team’s starting centre fielder, Mookie Wilson, was out of play. Again, Lenny proved beyond any reasonable doubt that he is worthy of the task. This saw him replace Mookie the following season due to an eye injury sustained by the centre fielder. With that came the defining moment of Dykstra’s career; he pulled-off a walk-off home run in the 1998 NLCS over Houston Astros and it made him a Met Hall of Famer alongside Tommie Agee and Wayne Gareth who also made similar home runs in 1969 and 1973 World Series respectively.

Lenny continued to play for The Mets until the team traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies. Initially, Lenny Dykstra wasn’t happy with the trade to the Phillies as he enjoyed playing in New York. However, he soon found his foot with the team and became a fan favourite there. His stay with The Phillies was filled with ups and downs as he was out of play sometimes due to one injury or the other but in 1993, the Philadelphia-based team won the pennant at the National League East with Lenny setting yet another record of 773 plate appearances. Mr Dykstra continued his career until 1996 with him being out of play mostly due to injuries.

His Net Worth

Apart from baseball, Lenny has ventured into a handful of businesses; he once owned a car wash business which was located in Simi Valley, California. He has also served as president of various private companies.

As at 2018, it is believed that Lenny Dykstra’s net worth sits at $25 million. This claim has not been substantiated in any way.

Meanwhile, life hasn’t been all rosy for Dykstra who has had a series of legal issues and even served jail terms. On 28th June 2016, he released an autobiography titled House of Nails: A Memoir of Life on the Edge. The book made it to the No. 11 spot of the New York Times non-fiction bestseller.

Lenny Dykstra Wife (Terri) and Son

Terri Peel is the wife of the MLB star, they have been married since 1985, a few months after his major league debut with the New York Mets. The two met while Lenny was a player for the Mets at the minor league. Terri and Lenny are parents to three sons, Cutter who plays for the Washington Nationals; Luke, who is also a player with St. Louis Cardinals and Gavin Dykstra.

Cutter’s relationship with actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler produced Beau Kyle Dykstra, Lenny’s grandson who was born in August 2013.

In 2009, after 25 years of marriage, Terri Dykstra filed for divorce and stated during the proceedings that she hasn’t had a job for over two decades. Based on information from her social media platforms, Terri is working at Westlake Oral and Plastic Surgery and is currently residing in Westlake Village, California.

Height and Body Features

Sporting blond hair, Lenny is averagely built with a height of 5 ft 10 in (178 cm) and he weighs 72.6 kg (160 lb). Details of the rest of his body measurements are yet to be authenticated.

Where Is He Now?

After Lenny’s release from the Federal Penitentiary in Victorville, California (where he spent over half a year for grand theft auto and other financial crimes) in 2013, he spent more time embracing his probation while dealing with his drug issues.

This bloke stayed away from the public for a while but it was common knowledge that he was living with his ex-wife who clearly specified that no reunion would happen between them. Nonetheless, it again emerged sometime in May 2018 that the ex-baseballer has for threatening an Uber driver with a gun. He was slapped with terroristic threats and drug charges; hardly can anyone tell what’s up with him since then.
