Notorious for his twitter rants, epileptic love life, un-ending feud with his brother and his all-round loutish behaviour, Liam Gallagher is one of Britain’s most prominent rock stars. Liam was very popular in the 90’s for being the lead vocalist of the now disbanded English rock band called Oasis which he co-founded with his brother Noel Gallagher. He is the founder of the also disbanded English rock band called Beady Eye, which included most of the members of Oasis except his brother Noel.

Liam Gallagher doubles as an impressive singer and songwriter, with vocals and lyrics that has got Britain rocking for over 2 decades. Liam’s voice has been compared to that of legendary John Lennon and his excellent vocals have led to him being voted the 11th best singer of all time in 2006 as well as the greatest frontman of all time in 2010; both in reader polls conducted by Q magazine.

A rock star’s craft would be incomplete without the mastery of a musical instrument, Liam, therefore, is a complete rock star as he is also pretty good at playing the guitar, piano, tambourine and a couple of percussion instruments. Gallagher has named John Lennon and the legendary Madonna to be the greatest influence on his music.

Liam Gallagher Bio

William John Paul Gallagher was born to Thomas and Peggy Gallagher on the 21st of September 1972 in Burnage, Manchester, England. Liam’s parents are Irish and have two other male children aside from Liam. As a matter of fact, Liam is the last child of his parents. He got his high school diploma in spring of 1990 from The Barlow Roman Catholic High School in Didsbury. He was quite an unruly and troublesome student and is rumoured to have been suspended for 3 months for some despicable act he perpetrated. Before his time at The Barlow Roman Catholic High School, Liam was a student of St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Primary School.

Liam Gallagher can be considered a late bloomer. As a young chap, he had no interest in music whatsoever and was more interested in sports. However, according to the singer he got into a fight with a classmate in high school and was struck on the head with a hammer and this experience seemed to reset his brain, bringing about a sudden interest in music. He’s actually grateful to this anonymous classmate of his for being the catalyst that sped up the process of his self-discovery.

Music Discovery

After his epiphany, Liam started listening to the likes of the Beatles, the Stone Roses, and T.Rex, gradually growing and improving his musical talent. Liam’s vocal dexterity was noticed by his high school buddy, Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan and he asked him to join his band named the Rain as the lead vocalist. Although this was an exciting opportunity for Liam to further harness his inherent singing talent, the band wasn’t successful. They struggled to write good songs and invariably struggled to get shows and gigs. However, their fortunes soon changed for the better in 1991 when Noel (Liam’s elder brother who was a roadie at that time) decided to coordinate their affairs by rebranding and revamping their image as well as writing their songs; this was the birth of Oasis. Noel seemed to have the Midas touch, as soon as he took control of the band and rebranded it, they got their first record contract with the British independent record label called Creation Records and released their first ever album titled Definitely Maybe on the 29th of August 1994.

The album Definitely Maybe was an excellent piece and when it was released, it became the fastest selling British debut album ever. Buoyed by the success of their debut album, Oasis released their second studio album on the 2nd of October, 1995, titled (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? This album was even more successful than the first and became the third best-selling album in the history of Britain.

Oasis would go on to release 5 more spectacular albums including their final album titled Dig Out Your Soul in 2008, which topped the UK Album Charts and peaked at number 5 in the US. Sadly, after the release of this album and its tour the next year (2009), Oasis was disbanded as Noel and Liam’s relationship had grown sour and the pair could no longer work together, forcing Noel to leave the band.

Beady Eye And Solo Career

Moving on, the same year Oasis was disbanded, Liam, with a now improved songwriting skill from years of understudying Noel, started his own band called Beady Eye. Beady Eye would go on to release an album titled Different Gear, Still Speeding on the 28th of February 2011. They headlined sold out concerts like the Japan Tsunami Disaster relief concert at the Brixton Academy and eventually disbanded on the 25th of October 2014. Although Liam claimed he wouldn’t become a solo artist when he began getting solo gigs after Beady Eye was disbanded, he went on to release an excellent solo album titled As You Were on the 6th of October 2017 which sold 103,000 copies in the first week of its release, eclipsing the rest of the top 10 albums on the UK Albums chart.

Apparently, Liam Gallagher has gone solo contrary to his words and credible sources have announced that he would headline the TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow Green on the 30th of June 2018 as well as the 2018 Isle of Eight Festival.

Wife, Children, Girlfriend, Family

Liam’s love life has been a bit erratic. On the 7th of April 1997, he married English singer, actress and model named Patsy Kensit. This marriage was a really turbulent one and its problems were greatly publicized because of the celebrity status of both spouses. The marriage didn’t last and inevitably came to an end in the year 2000 after Liam had an affair with Lisa Moorish. His affair with Lisa led to the birth of his first child/daughter Molly on the 26th of March 1998.

However, before Liam and Patsy’s divorce, they had a son named Lennon John (named after Liam’s idol John Lennon) on the 13th of September 1999. Liam went on to marry Nicole Appleton on the Valentine’s Day of 2008 and they welcomed a son named Gene Grant Gallagher on the 2nd of July 2001. About 3 years into the marriage, Liam had an affair with Liza Ghorbani, a New York Times Journalist who at the time of the affair was profiling him for an article. This affair led to the birth of a daughter named Gemma. The affair and birth of Gemma put a strain on Liam and Nicole’s marriage leading to their eventual divorce in April 2014. It was recently reported that Liam has never met any of his daughters despite the fact that he pays their child support regularly.

Liam Gallagher is currently in a relationship with Debbie Gwyther who happens to be his former personal assistant. Liam claims to be really in love with Debbie and has also been quoted saying she saved him from the emotional distress of his loveless life and the unending feud with his brother. She reportedly made Liam a better person, helping him cut down on some of his excesses while remaining a constant source of joy and support. Hopefully, the couple will remain together and Liam doesn’t ruin their relationship with an affair.

Liam Gallagher Parents and Brother

His parents had a turbulent marriage, his dad Thomas was a troubled man with drinking problems that made him violent. He frequently took out his frustration on his sons, physically abusing them at the slightest provocation. This began to affect Liam and his brothers psychologically as they began to lash out in school and also became susceptible to unruly behavioural patterns.

Peggy, Liam’s mom had to take action by divorcing Thomas in 1986 and moved out with her sons to preserve what was left of their already battered childhood. Some people believe the physical and emotional trauma the Gallagher brothers had to endure could be part of the cause of their loutish behaviour as well as their sour relationship; this remains just an assumption though.

The feud between the Gallagher brothers has always been public knowledge. However, it only grew worse when Noel decided to walk away from Oasis in 2009, leading to its eventual debacle. The brothers have been involved in backstage brawls and twitter rants since then and there seems to be no foreseeable armistice or peace between them. Recently, Liam expressed his disgust over Noel’s refusal to invite him or any of their family members to his 50th birthday party. Liam has also extended his animosity to Noel’s wife Sara McDonald; they’ve both been involved in a twitter war over Liam’s recent tweet that Sara deemed to be a swipe at her 18-year old daughter Anais. Sara has since replied, asking Liam to ‘drop dead’. We hope the brothers can settle their differences soon and bring Oasis band back together.

Net worth

Although Liam Gallagher is supposed to be worth at least 50 million USD, from record sells, concerts and tours, his net worth is currently estimated to be at about 7.5 million USD. This enormous decline in his finances is due to a combination of alimony settlements, child support fees and also some profligate spending on his own part. Surely Liam will make more money before the year runs out and we hope he can show some level of prudence.
