Australian-born actor Liam McIntyre is best known for playing the titular role in Spartacus: Vengeance, the second season in the Starz TV series Spartacus. He equally reprised his role in the third season of the franchise, Spartacus: War of the Damned.
His stellar performance as a gladiator in Spartacus has seen him feature in other projects such as the 2014 action film The Legend of Hercules and the superhero TV series The Flash (2014–16).
The talented actor was tipped to return to primetime TV with a regular role in the horror drama The Haunted. Unfortunately, the pilot did not receive a full series order. However, McIntyre has made his return in 2017 playing the role of Dr Eli Nader on the ABC medical series Pulse.

Liam James McIntyre was born on February 8, 1982, in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. His parents divorced when he was just 2 years of age after which he relocated to Melbourne with his mother Barbara McIntyre-Conway. His maternal grandmother also assisted in his upbringing.
At a young age, Liam McIntyre developed an interest in painting thanks to his grandmother who was very creative. He studied business in Ireland as an exchange student. It was never his dream to become an actor, he only ventured into showbiz in order to make a living.
The Aussie actor started out acting in short films in his home country before making guest appearances in popular series Rush and Neighbours. He made his way into the international audience with a guest appearance on the HBO World War II mini-series The Pacific.
Liam McIntyre landed his career breakthrough in 2011 playing the titular gladiator role in the Spartacus TV series. At the time McIntyre was cast in the lead role, he was still working as a movie booker for a chain of theatres in Melbourne. The talented actor replaced Andy Whitfield who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2010 and eventually passed away in 2011. McIntyre played this lead role for the final 2 seasons of the series.
The actor made his feature film debut playing the role of Sotiris in the 2014 3D action film The Legend of Hercules. He also featured in the Australian telefilm The Killing Field (2014). More to that, the man had a four-episode stint portraying the recurring villain Weather Wizard in the superhero series The Flash.

1. Spartacus Was His Big Bang
For his career-changing role in Spartacus, Liam McIntyre had to gain a lot of weight. Prior to the audition, the actor had lost an incredible amount of weight for another movie role. However, the show creator Steven DeKnight was able to look past his physique and see that he held great promise. When McIntyre eventually won the role, he was put on a tough workout regimen to gain the 6-pack gladiator physique.
2. Relationship with Andy Whitfield
McIntyre equally struck up a friendship with Andy Whitfield, the former actor in the titular role on Spartacus. Due to Whitfield’s deteriorating health, the 2 Spartacuses couldn’t meet up as often as they wanted. However, before he died, Andy Whitfield gave his approval for McIntyre to take on the role.

Liam McIntyre is married to Australian singer and actress Erin Hasan McIntyre. The two began dating way back in 2010 and they got engaged at Disney World in December 2012. The couple eventually tied the knot in a fairytale-themed ceremony on January 5, 2014. Liam’s Spartacus costars were in attendance as the couple exchanged vows at St John’s Anglican Church Toorak followed by a reception at Rippon Lea Estate, in his hometown of Melbourne.
4. He Had a Close Shave with Death
In 2017, Liam McIntyre escaped death just by the whiskers. The Australian actor was at the Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida on January 6, 2017, when a gunman opened fire on the crowd killing 5 people. McIntyre would have been at the same location at the time the tragic incident took place but he left the terminal to bid his wife farewell. His wife is most certainly his good luck charm!

In 2016, McIntyre played the lead character J.D. Fenix in the popular video game, Gears of War 4, the 4th instalment in the Gears of War series. The Australian hunk lent his voice, features and moves to the lead character of the video game which was met with positive reviews as well as a huge commercial success.
