Lindsay Czarniak grew up around sports and news so it makes sense that her path would lead her to a career as a sports news anchor and reporter. Her professional career has spanned over a decade with stints at some average and top-tier news networks.

This Pennsylvania girl was born in the town of Harrisburg on November 7, 1977, and moved to Northern Virginia with her family at the age of five.
She went to Centerville High School in Fairfax County where she played field hockey and lacrosse. She would go on to James Madison University where she graduated with a degree in online journalism. While she was still in college, however, she started an internship with the CBS-affiliated television station, WUSA TV.
Lindsay then moved on to start her broadcasting career with CNN in the role of a production assistant. This led to stints with WAWS, WTEV-TV, WTVJ (all in Florida), and the Speed Channel. One thing all these networks have in common is that they are all affiliated with or owned by CBS, FOX or NBC.

After her hectic time between networks, she returned to Washington and joined NBC-owned WRC-TV as a sports anchor and reporter. This was thanks to veteran broadcaster, George Michael. In 2006, she also became a co-host on his long-running show, The George Michael Sports Machine. In the same year, she also covered the Winter Olympics for NBC Sports.
In 2007, Lindsay and Dan Hielle took over from George Michael as NBC4’s co-sports anchors. Fast forward to November of the same year, she interviewed players of the Washington Redskins when their teammate Sean Taylor was murdered.
In 2008, she was a sports desk reporter for NBC during the Summer Olympics and also hosted Gymnastics on Oxygen, a half-hour show on Oxygen TV network. The show centred around shedding light on gymnastics and other Olympic competition opportunities made especially for women.
July 13, 2011, saw Lindsay Czarniak make her final appearance for WRC-TV. She moved to ESPN and made her first broadcast for the network on August 19, 2011. A year later, she replaced Jay Harris as co-host of the 6 pm segment of SportsCenter. She also became the first woman to host ABC’s coverage of the 2013 Indianapolis 500. Her contract with ESPN ran its course in August 2017.

Lindsay’s earliest exposure to sports news reporting was through her father Chet Czarniak. For 17 years, he was employed in the sports department of a local newspaper. He later moved on to become managing editor of USAToday. Her mother, Terri Czarniak, was a principal of Rose Hill Elementary School, a public school in Alexandria, Virginia. She also has a sibling, a brother, Andrew Czarniak who serves in the U.S. Coast Guard after graduating from the United States Coast Guard Academy.
Seems like love and romance do not only happen in the movies. Lindsay is married to Craig Melvin. He is a fellow TV reporter and former weekend anchor for WRC-TV, where Czarniak used to work. The couple tied the knot on October 15, 2011, in her favourite city, Washington.
Craig anchors MSNBC live on weekends and is also the co-host of the Saturday edition of Today. Melvin covered the 2012 Democratic and Republican conventions, The Asiana Airlines 214 Crash in 2013 and the George Zimmerman trial.
