The Limey tells the story of Wilson (Stamp), a British career criminal who is released from prison after nearly a decade behind bars. Upon his release, he hears of this daughter’s death and teams up with Eduardo (Guzman) to find the man responsible for her demise. Here, Heinle plays the role of Adhara, girlfriend to Valentine (Fonda), the man being hunted by Wilson.
The movie was hailed for having the right amount of moodiness and grit. It was given a rating of 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it performed poorly in the commercial sense. It managed only a $3.2 million gross, a fraction of its $10 million production budget.
2. Loving (1993 – 1995)
This soap opera was the first of Amelia Heinle’s movies or tv shows. It announced her to the world when she played Stephanie Brewster in a few episodes in the last few years of the show before it was canceled in 1995. 5. Purgartory (1999)
Also referred to as Purgatory West of the Pecos, this western fantasy film puts a new twist on the concept of purgatory. Set in the Old West, it follows outlaw Blackjack Britton (Eric Roberts) as he and his gang are running from the law after they rob a bank. Their escape soon lands them in a weird little city known as Refuge where gunslingers like Britton are extended the highest hospitality with only one condition – that they remain on their best behavior. Soon Britton and his gang realize that Refuge is purgatory for some the greatest outlaws before him, where they seek to find redemption and hopefully make it to heaven. In this Amelia Heinle movie, the actress plays the role of Rose/Betty McCullough.
The movie was enjoyed by the majority of its audience as evidenced by its 78 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Purgatory also received positive ratings from the likes of Radio Times, Variety, and The New York Times.
6. Earth vs. The Spider (2002)
In this sci-fi horror thriller, Quentin Kimmer (Devon Gummersall) is a security guard at a research lab. He is also an obsessive fan of comic books and secretly wishes he could become a superhero. He gets his wish after a series of events tempt him into injecting himself with an experimental serum from the lab. While he does gain the powers he wished for, things do not go as planned, and pretty soon, he has morphed into a grotesque looking human-spider hybrid and loses control over himself. Amelia plays Stephanie Lewis, next-door neighbor and secret crush of Quentin.
The critics and audience alike thought the movie to be sub-par, goofy, and largely unoriginal. The audience on Rotten Tomatoes gave it an abysmal rating of 18 percent. Film-focused publications like TVGuide and Filmthreat gave the film a rating of 2/4 and 1/4 respectively.
7. Black Cat Run (1998)
Johnny Del Grissom () is a gas station attendant who is in love with Sara Jane Bronnel (Amelie Heinle), although their relationship is against her father’s wishes. Things go sour after Sara’s father is found dead shortly after confronting Johnny and she is kidnapped by escaped convicts. Everyone believes Johnny is his murderer. This sets the tone for the rest of the movie as Johnny is hot on the trail of the convicts and the police hot on his trail.
Some independent critics praised the film for its casting and character performances. However, the action thriller earned an average rating of 5.7 stars out of 10 from 525 users on IMDb.
8. All My Children (2001 – 2004)
Next on our list of Amelia Heinle’s movies and tv shows is All My Children. The soap opera ran for 41 years on ABC and for a few more years as webisodes by production company Prospect Park. The show was created by Agnes Nixon (Loving, One Life To Live). In its more than four decades of existence, the show was centered around the life of Erica Kane as she plowed through a long line of husbands.
The show experienced a lot of pushback and was even shelved for a while by Nixon before it eventually received the green light in 1970 following the success of another of Nixon’s shows One Life To Live. In this story of love and redemption, Ross () is part of a family that owns a famous wine collection. But to achieve this, he has to contend with his Uncle Cullen (Nigel Hawthorne) who has plans for the family estate that are vastly different from anything Ross has in mind.
