Lori Greiner is another proof that your small idea can turn you into a multi-millionaire if you would only overcome your fears and chase it. Don’t be deceived by her pretty face, Greiner is one of the most prolific inventors of this day and age. She is best known as one of the cast members/investors/sharks on ABC’s entrepreneurial business show Shark Tank, where aspiring entrepreneurs pitch their ideas in a bid to woo potential investors aka sharks.

On the show, Lori has earned nicknames like the “warm-blooded shark” and the “shark with the heart.” She is also known as the Queen of QVC. Having invented at least 600 products and owning at least 150 US and foreign patents, Greiner has a truckload of experience to literally take aspiring businesspeople by the hand and guide them all the way to success – something she has many times confessed to enjoying. She has documented her rise to success in her first book – Invent It, Sell It, Bank It!, a bestseller.

Lori Greiner Bio

Lori Husman Greiner (née Husman) was born on December 9, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Near North Side, Chicago. She did have a middle-class upbringing thanks to her dad’s job as a real estate developer and her mom’s as a psychologist. Her parents divorced when she was 9 years old.

After high school, Lori attended Loyola University Chicago where she majored in communications with a focus on journalism, film, and television (little wonder why she appears to be a natural on Shark Tank’s set). She interned at the Chicago Tribune.

In addition to her love for journalism, Lori nursed another passion – jewelry making. From her college days, Lori designed and sold her own jewelry.

As a jewelry maker, Lori thought it would be nice if people had an organizer that could fit almost all of their jewelry. That idea remained only in her head until 1997 when she decided to turn it into a reality.

She created the jewelry organizer that could fit about 100 pairs of earrings and paid to get it patented. With $300,000 loan, she was able to make a prototype. Lori also got her company For Your Ease Only, Inc. started. The product attracted the interest of J. C. Penney and in a little over a year, Lori was able to pay back the loan and also make huge profits.

That marked the beginning of Lori’s career as a serial inventor. Lori parlayed her success with the jewelry organizer into starting her own QVC show Clever & Unique Creations Show where she showcased her subsequent products.

By 2012, her tremendous success on QVC had led to a guest investor spot on Shark Tank. Two years later, she invested in Scrub Daddy, a scratch-free sponge. The product sold over 2 million units on QVC in one day and has, to date, sold over 17 million units on QVC alone. Sales have grossed over $100 million to make the product Shark Tank’s greatest success.

Lori’s other hit investment was in CordaRoy’s, a beanbag bed that has grossed over $10 million in sales. Lori has a 90% success rate on new items launched which validates her claim that she can immediately tell if a product is a “hero or a zero.” She is by far the most successful shark on the show.

Lori was a guest speaker for the first United States Patent & Trademark Office Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposium.

Lori is married to a certain , a man who has been behind her before she became a millionaire. They first met each other at a certain Kincaid’s bar in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. They began a friendship that soon turned romantic and the rest, as they say, is history.

Though it isn’t known what year they met or got married, as Lori would rather dish out business guidelines than discuss her private life with the media, an article on revealed that they had tied the knot by 1996.

1996 is the same year that Dan would support his wife to turn her idea of inventing a plastic jewelry holder that could fit 100 pairs of jewelry pieces into a reality.

A trained accountant, Dan Greiner quit his job 6 years later to support his wife’s company For Your Ease Only where he serves as the Vice president and Chief Financial Officer bringing his inventory skills to the table. Dan had worked as a division controller at Bell and Howell Corporation.

While Lori oversees the creative, sales, marketing and legal part of the business, her husband Dan who is detail-oriented handles the parts, packaging, and shipping of their many products. He is in no way emasculated by the fact that his wife gets to be in the spotlight.

As of this writing, Lori and her husband Dan Greiner have no kids together, but that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t love kids. We stumbled upon an she gave in 2014 when she gushed about her love for kids saying that her friends could drop their kids off at her doorstep and she’d be glad to welcome them.

Whatever their reason for not having kids is best known to the couple who chose to keep that part of their lives uber private.
