Biography, Age

Born as Lyle Wesley Waggoner on April 13, 1935, in Kansas City, Kansas, United States, he was raised by his parents Marie and Myron Waggoner in Excelsior Springs, Missouri where he had his basic education at Kirkwood High School before studying briefly at Washington University in St. Louis.

Before taking up acting as his preferred career, Lyle joined the US Army and served as a radio operator in West Germany for almost two years. He then went to the General Motors Institute of Technology to study mechanical engineering in the junior executive program.

 Acting Career

Waggoner made his debut acting as a muscle man in a Kansas City Musical production of Li’l Abner. He then formed a sales organization that helped him with the necessary finances to start an acting career in Los Angeles. By mid-1960s he was already a regular face in TV series including the Live action TV series, Batman and the radio and television Western drama series, Gunsmoke. He also appeared in Catalina Caper and guest starred in the third season of the TV series Lost in Space.

During the 1970s and 1980s, he appeared in several TV movies and minor motion pictures including The San Pedro Beach BumsHappy Days, Golden GirlsEllenThe Love Boat and Fantasy Island before resigning from full-time acting to run Star Wagons, a company that is regarded as the largest supplier of customized studio location rental trailers to the entertainment industry which he founded in 1979. Some of his last roles before he resigned are in the 2005 TV series The War at Home which he acted with award-winning actors like Rami Malek, Michael Rapaport, and Dean Collins.

He also did some minor businesses such as selling encyclopedias and posing for Playgirl Magazine’s first male semi-nude centerfold, among others. In 1993, Waggoner was on the list of hosts of  “Let’s Talk With Lyle Waggoner”, an infomercial which promoted “Y-born”. All these, plus his energetic roles in television series earned him good salaries which now accumulates to his net worth of about $10 million.

In 1976, Lyle Waggoner was appointed “mayor” – an honorary “goodwill ambassador” position he shared with the likes of Cesare Danova an Italian-American television and screen actor, and Steve Allen – an American TV personality, musician, actor, comedian, writer, and advocate of scientific skepticism. He also co-produced Consumer American show with Shawn Burner.

Waggoner owned a house in La Quinta, California which he listed for $2.1 million. He also bought an oceanfront home in Mandalay Beach for $3.925 million but later sold it for $4.495. Lyle has homes in Westlake Village CA, Manzanillo Mexico, and Jackson Hole Wyoming.

Lyle married his heartthrob Sharon Kennedy who is an actress, financial consultant, and realtor. They got married on September 17, 1961, and they are blessed with two sons, Beau Waggoner and Jason Waggoner.
