American TV meteorologist, Maria LaRosa who works for The Weather Channel (TWC) has anchored several shows since she joined the station in 2010 including First Outlook, Your Weather Today, Morning Rush and Wake Up with Al.

She currently serves as a field reporter and On-Camera Meteorologist and co-host of Weekend Recharge with Paul Goodloe. LaRosa was part of the ten-member crew deployed by TWC to cover the Hurricane Harvey disaster in 2017 as she was stationed in San Antonio.

Maria LaRosa Bio

Maria LaRosa was born on November 7, 1976, in Mahopac, New York. She was, however, raised in Ramsey, New Jersey. She actually refers to herself as a New Jersey girl even though she wasn’t born in Jersey.

Growing up, LaRosa was a reserved science geek who would rather bury herself in her science and math books than have a chat with friends. The young LaRosa was probably too engrossed with her books to even notice the weather, talk less of discussing it with other people.

She attended the Pennsylvania State University. When she enrolled, she had no idea what career path she was going to take, but just one visit to the meteorology department of the university was enough to convince her. Subsequently, LaRosa graduated with a Bachelor’s in meteorology in the year 1998. Before her graduation, she served as a teaching assistant for the University’s introductory meteorology course.

Fresh out of college, LaRosa started her television career as a meteorologist and anchor for WTVM-TV, the ABC station in Columbus, Georgia from 1998-2000. According to the New Jersey weather woman, the news director at WTVM-ABC took a gamble on her and gave her a weekend spot. She also doubled as a news reporter on the same channel.

After about a year an a half, LaRosa was given a spot on the morning show first as the news anchor and later also doubling as the weather anchor. In late 2000, she moved on to WXIX-TV, a Fox-affiliate in Cincinnati Ohio, where she worked for 4 years as the weekend weather anchor. In 2004, LaRosa moved on to KYW-TV, a CBS channel in Philadelphia, where she worked as weekday morning and noon meteorologist.

She joined The Weather Channel in 2010 where she started as a co-host with Todd Santos on the Weekend Now and PM Edition weather program. Between 2012 and 2014, she hosted Morning Rush and Wake Up With Al.

She also co-anchored the channel’s flagship morning show America’s Morning Headquarters in 2015, alongside Sam Champion and Mike Bettes. She currently serves as co-host of yet another weekend show Weekend Recharge with Paul Goodloe.

LaRosa is a member of National Weather Association and has earned the association’s seal of approval for broadcasting which is the new CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist).

This weather woman, like the rest of us, also has her favourite season of the year. According to her, she enjoys everything that comes with Autumn, the weather (predictably), food and the holidays. She seems to be an indoors person as she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and watching movies.

Kolakowski comes from a very wealthy background and is the only child of his family. He also earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He currently runs a business close to their Atlanta home.

The couple has three sons. They welcomed their first son Michael in 2005. The second, Justin was born in 2008. They welcomed the youngest Tyler on May 3, 2010. The couple currently resides in Atlanta with their children.
