Marten Elco de Roon (born March 29, 1991) is a Dutch professional footballer who now plays for Atalanta in Italy and for the Netherlands national team. Sparta Rotterdam, SC Heerenveen, and Middlesbrough were among his previous clubs. De Roon was born in Zwijndrecht and grew up in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, where he was a member of ASWH’s youth squads. He moved on from ASWH to Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam’s youth teams.

On March 27, 2010, De Roon made his Eredivisie debut for Sparta Rotterdam, starting against Twente at De Grolsch Veste. In the 2009–10 season, he made three appearances in the Eredivisie.
