These days, the Duchess of Sussex dedicates her time to attending public engagements with her red-haired prince charming most times by her side. Royalty came to take her away, leaving Suit fans with mixed feelings. Her engagement and to British meant that she was kissing her Hollywood career goodbye, but not to worry, though her acting days are over, there are lots of movies and TV shows to feed our eyes on for life.

Acting for Meghan Markle is innate, her father was a television director of photography and lighting director and as a result, Meghan spent a lot of time on the set of Married…with Children which is one of the shows her daddy worked on. She ultimately caught the acting bug and set out to make acting her career. Her professional acting career which would go on to last for a decade and a half began in 2002 when she made her debut as a nurse in an episode of the daytime medical drama General Hospital. A year later, she graduated from Northwestern University School of Communication with a double major in Theater and International Studies.

To support herself in the early years of her career, Meghan Markle worked as a freelance calligrapher. For the next couple of years, she continued to book bit parts on TV shows and once featured as one of the models holding up a suitcase in 34 episodes of the US TV game show, Deal or No Deal. Markle’s early struggle with booking parts was majorly due to her ambiguous skin color. Being a half Caucasian and half African-American, she didn’t appear white enough for white roles and black enough for black roles. She once described herself as the “ethnic chameleon who couldn’t book a job,” she said this in 2015, about four years into her breakthrough role as paralegal Rachael Zane in the hit USA legal series Suits.

Meghan Markle could have most likely gone on to become a more successful actress but destiny had other plans up her sleeves.
