Melissa Theuriau was born in the very small community of Echiorolles in France on July 18, 1978. She has never disclosed any information about her family, siblings – if she has any, or what her formative years and very early educational experiences were like.

However, she got admission into the prestigious Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) – a technical University located in Pierre-Mendes, Grenoble in France, where she obtained her first degree in News Communications. She proceeded to the Institute of Communications and Media (ICM) in Echeriolles, France, where she obtained her Master’s degree in Audio Visual journalism.

Having now been formally educated in the nitty-gritty of journalism, she sought to put all she had learned to good use immediately. Melissa Theuriau started her professional journalism career in 2002 when she was employed as a reporter for Match Television in her native country, France.

In 2003, Melissa moved to La Chaine Info (LCI) which was the first French all-news channel and worked as both an anchorwoman, newscaster, and a reporter. It was while she was in the employ of this station that she became well known to the French audience. She also was the host of a travel guide show, at the station. She handled about 3 different programs for this station which included – The Voyager Travel Show, LCI Matin in the mornings and the 6:40 news.

Sometime in 2006, Melissa turned down an offer by the TF1 Group (parent company of LCI) for her to become the anchorwoman of the Evening News on weekends, acting as a temporary replacement for the sitting anchorwoman, Claire Chazal. Her decision surprised her employers, who had thought that she would jump at the opportunity.

In September 2006, Melissa Theuriau was on the move professionally again. She joined the television channel, Metropole 6 (or simply M6) as an Editor-In-Chief, and was the host of an investigative weekly reporting show Zone Interdite, translated as the “Forbidden Zone”. As time went on and while working in this organization, took on a few more roles as host and/or presenter of a few more highly entertaining lifestyle and magazine shows. She still works at M6 till date, and her adventure here seems to be very rewarding.

On March 29, 2008, after dating a young man called Jamel Debbouze for a while, they announced that they were now engaged. Jamel is a Morrocan-French screenwriter, television producer, and director, as well as an actor; though he is more popularly known as a stand-up comedian.

By May 7, 2008, both Melissa and Jamel officially got married. Melissa was reportedly pregnant at the time of their wedding. The couple had their first child, a boy, in December 2008; they named him Leon. Their second child, a daughter, Lila Fatimat was born in 2011. She was named Fatimat after Jamel’s mother. The couple has had a scandal-free marriage so far.

Melissa Theuriau has never disclosed any information about her biological parents and siblings. The subject of her parent’s names and nationality has generated a lot of controversy among her numerous fans. Some hold the opinion that her parents are both French nationals, while others vehemently disagree with that position. Some also say that she is of Iranian-French descent, but there has been no confirmation of this. Another school of thought believes that her parents are from the Mediterranean and Alpine regions.
