He has also appeared as the character Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera” in London in the year 1986. In 1998 he acted in three major consecutive concerts including “The Fiftieth Birthday Concert of Andrew Lloyd Webber”, “Sondheim Tonight” and “Hey, Mr. Producer: The Musical World of Cameron Mackintosh”.

In 2002, Michael portrayed the role of Caractacus Potts in the Sherman Brothers musical, named “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. In 2007, he was seen playing as Edna Turnblad in the popular musical Hairspray that was held at Shaftesbury Theatre.

He made his singing debut by releasing the hit single “Love Changes Everything”. He also participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992 and sang the track “One Step Out of Time”. He ended the competition with second position.

He has released several albums namely “The Movies”, “One Voice”, “Both Sides Now”, “If Everyone Was Listening”, “Coming Home To You”.
