Michelle was named Michelle Perez Maglalang when she was born on 20th October 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Philippine parents. Her parents migrated to the United States on an employer-sponsored visa several months before her birth. Her mother’s name is Rafaela (a homemaker and teacher) while her father is Apolo DeCastro Maglalang who as at the time of Michelle’s birth was still a physician in training.

Young Malkin had her growing up in Absecon, New Jersey as her parents relocated there after his father graduated from medical school. Her family was a devout Roman Catholic one and as such, she attended Holy Spirit Roman Catholic High School and graduated in 1988. She got enrolled at Oberlin College to study English. She started her journalism career with the Los Angeles Daily News in 1992 where she was a columnist till 1994. By 1995, she was in Washington D.C at the Competitive Enterprise Institute as a journalism fellow. The institute is describable as a free-market, anti-government regulation, a libertarian think tank. Michelle Malkin was just here for one year as she later moved to Seattle, Washington, where she wrote columns for The Seattle Times. She became a nationally syndicated columnist with Creators Syndicate in 1999.

On Fox News Channel, she was a regular guest host of The O’Reilly Factor and was with the news network for years. Since 2007 till now, she has concentrated more on her blogging career, writing and public speaking. However, she still makes occasional appearances on television especially on Fox News and Fox & Friends once a week mostly with Sean Hannity and formerly with Greta Van Susteren respectively.

Michelle married her husband Jesse Malkin on the 24th day of June 1993. The two lovers first met when they were in college and dated for just two years before deciding to raise a family together.

They have two children currently. Their first child Veronica Mae Malkin was born in 1999 with some little health issues which she has since then been managing well, while their second child; Julian Daniel Malkin was born in 2003.

Veronica Mae Malkin was born slightly underweight in 1999 and Michelle disclosed through a post on her  on Veronica’s health issues that she suffers routinely from breathing difficulties. However, “her life despite all these obstacles has been awe-inspiring to her.”

Jesse Malkin, Michelle’s husband once worked as an associate policy analyst and economist with a speciality on healthcare issues for the RAND Corporation. Michelle revealed again on her blog that her husband had to leave his “lucrative health-care consulting job” to become a stay-at-home dad. Such is the level of love and commitment to family that exists between the couple.

The family of four still enjoys a happy married life together and they reside in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
