He was born on September 15, 1991, in Flint, Michigan. Young Perry lived with his father, a naval officer in Michigan and later moved to Apopka in Florida to live with his mother. Growing up in Flint, Perry was one of the few white kids and as such was exposed to bullying from other kids at school. He had to learn very fast the ability to defend himself at all times from the bullies, this was how he developed his basic fighting instincts.

At the young age of 11, Mike began training in Muay Thai and gradually became popular in the sports for his impeccable skills. He fought his way to a state championship as an amateur in Florida and gradually rose to popularity. Perry went pro in 2014 after his impressive performances in 11 amateur fights. As a professional he finished all nine opponents in nine fights, standing out among his counterparts.

Mike Perry joined the UFC in August 2016 at UFC 202. He faced Lim Hyun-Gyu in his first fight and defeated him in the first round after descending on him like an angry beast. Perry defeated his opponent Danny Roberts in the third round at UFC 204 where he kicked him with his knee and confused him with ground and pound.

At UFC on Fox 22, held in December 2016, Perry fought against Alan Jouban but lost by unanimous decision. UFC Fight Night 108 saw the fighter defeat Jake Ellenberger in the second round of the bout. He faced Alex Reyes at UFC Fight Night 116 after the latter replaced Thiago Alves. He defeated Reyes via knockout which earned him his second Performance of the Night bonus award. He received had first after his overwhelming defeat of Jake Ellenberger via KO at UFC Fight Night 108.

Perry lost his fight with Max Griffin via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox: Emmett vs. Stephens. He went on to win that against Paul Felder at UFC 226 in July 2018. In a total of 15 fights, Perry won 13 and lost 3. He continues to fight his way to prominence in the daunting and challenging sports.

However, there have been sad reports of a break up between the couple. These reports emerged in March 2018 when Nickerson took to her Instagram handle to announce their break up. According to her post, she is no longer with Mike Perry but will continue to be friends with him and support him.
