Milla Jovovich Biography
Millia was born in Kiev, Ukraine (formerly USSR) on the 17th day of December 1975 to a Yugoslavian doctor, Bogich Jovovich, and a Soviet actress, Golina Loganiva. The family migrated to London when Milla was just five years old. They would later live in Sacremento, California before they finally settled in Los Angeles but her parents went through a divorce few months after their arrival in L.A.
She attended public school in L.A and in three months, she was fluent in the English language. Her mom tried getting an acting job while in L.A and when it was not coming, she had to take up a cleaning job to support herself and her little daughter, she, however, enrolled Milla in an acting class.
Modeling Career
Milla Jovovich actually began her career at a very tender age as a model. She first started by appearing in ads. Her early jobs with the likes of Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, and Herb Ritts placed her in the spotlight and gave her countless of other opportunities in the modeling industry and soon, she was on the cover page of popular magazines.
By her 12th birthday, she had become the world youngest cover model earning a salary of $3,500 a day which is incredibly astonishing for a girl her age. Unable to continue her acting career in the US, Golina Loganiva encouraged her daughter to attempt the heights she couldn’t reach. Milla began acting as a child. Her first professional role was as Lily Meleod in the television film The Night Train to Kathmandu in the year 1988. Later that same year, she appeared as Samantha Delongpre in the romantic thriller Two Moon Junction.
At the age of 15 years, she was cast as the lead actress in the movie Return To The Blue Lagoon alongside Brian Krause. The movie brought her to the limelight and earned her other roles which have helped her acting career blossom. She has starred in several blockbuster movies and TV series like Paradise, Married With Children, and Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.
She took a break from acting for some years but returned in 1997 with a lead role in French science fiction action film The Fifth Element. Other films she has acted include horror action film Resident Evil, If You Can’t Say No, Future World, Hellboy, and many others.
