The controversy between O’Malia and Tyga was quite the internet sensation in 2015. A blurred photo of O’Malia appeared on the cover of the OK Magazine which portrayed her as being romantically involved with the 26-year old rapper. According to the magazine, Tyga left his on-again, off-again girlfriend “heartbroken” by texting with the girl, who he met on Instagram.
To dispute innuendos made by the magazine, Molly O’malia held a media conference at the New York press conference along with her Attorney Gloria Allred to give her side of the story. She accused the magazine of invading her privacy and not confirming with her or her mother before publishing such a report. Tyga’s Lawyer admits the rapper had multiple phone chats with the then 14-year-old model but he said it was only to scout her musical talent after his team became interested in signing her as a singer. O’Malia, on the other hand, pointed that the rapper contacted her first on Instagram. She said Tyga never brought up discussions about her music in the two different communications they had which seemed awkward and uncomfortable for her. Thus, she stopped responding to him.
Molly’s mother, Anne Lowry O’Malia expressed concern, saying it’s inappropriate for an adult male to communicate with her 14-year-old daughter, asking for her phone number and when she is coming to Los Angeles. Then again, screenshots obtained by TMZ show that Tyga did ask her about her music eventually. O’Malia also told the rapper she was 17, not 14 years old.
Suffice it to say that the incident suddenly brought Molly O’Malia to the limelight at such a young age with curious fans tailing her on social media. But that didn’t end there as the pretty teenager lied again about her age, this time, to another popular rapper Bobo Norco. In a video that was published on YouTube in 2016, Norco claimed he also heard from the up-and-coming model and showed screenshots of her lying about her age.
Beyond the controversy, Molly’s social life seems perfect from the pictures she shares on Instagram – sexy smiles and all. Come May 22, 2018, the budding star will finally turn 18 years old.
