Since 1994, former American football running back O. J. Simpson has been hogging the headlines, not for his prowess in the gridiron, but for the gruesome murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson.

The deceased was discovered in a pool of her own blood in her California home along with a friend of hers, a waiter identified as Ron Goldman. The aftermath of the spine-chilling discovery was arguably one of the most publicized murder cases of all time which roped in the retired NFL player as a major suspect. Two decades and counting, more mind-blowing details are still popping up about the circumstances that led to the death of the young mother of two at her prime. Here’s what we know so far.

Nicole Brown Simpson’s Bio

A German woman named Juditha Anne Brown and Louis Hezekiel Brown, an American man welcomed Nicole as their bundle of joy on May 19, 1959. Her birth took place in Frankfurt, West Germany.

Her quest to get educated led her to Rancho Alamitos High School in Garden Grove, California, but she didn’t graduate there as she later finished her studies at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California. Seemingly, her educational pursuit didn’t get past high school as there are no records of a college degree to her name. Besides, she was already working as a waitress at the age of eighteen.

How She Met Simpson

The retired running back swept Nicole Brown Simpson off her feet upon their meeting at a club in 1977. She was a waitress at the club known as The Daisy. Regardless of the fact that he was still married to Marguerite, his first wife, and Nicole was just eighteen years old, Simpson went into a relationship with her and later divorced his wife in 1979.

When the coast cleared up, Simpson and Brown made their relationship official in a wedding ceremony on February 2, 1985. Nevertheless, what seemed like a fairytale turned into a nightmare seven years and two children later. On the basis of irreconcilable differences, Nicole filed for divorce on February 25, 1992, apparently, O. j. Simpson had turned her into a punching bag and she couldn’t take it anymore.

When And Why Was She Murdered?

Nicole Brown Simpson who was residing at 875 South Bundy Drive, in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California, with her two children after leaving her husband was 35 at the time of her demise. She must have made plans for the fateful day but couldn’t live to execute them as her body was discovered in the early hours of the morning on June 13, 1994. She and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally murdered and left in a pool of blood.

The result of an autopsy carried out on her showed seven stab wounds in the neck and scalp. She also received a fatal 5.5 inches (140 mm)-long gash across her throat, chopping off her left and right carotid arteries. The dangerous cut equally breached her right and left jugular veins. Furthermore, the cut on her neck almost tore her head off her body as it went as deep as 75 inches (19 mm) into her cervical vertebrae. A few defensive wounds on her hands indicate she fought for her life.

Her ex-husband was charged for the murder of Nicole and Ron and though he was acquitted a year later, he was later found liable for the tragic incident following a civil suit in 1997. As a result, he received an order to make a payment of $33.5 million in punitive damages to both families of the deceased.

To date, why and who ended the life of Nicole and her friend remains a mystery unsolved.

Nicole Brown Simpson’s Kids, Sister

Before her heart-wrenching murder, Nicole was the mother of two children, Sydney, and Justin Simpson, born in 1985 and 1988 respectively, while she was still enjoying marital bliss with O. J. Simpson. When the highly-publicized murder trial came to an end in 1996, Simpson’s petition to get full custody of his two children was approved by a judge and all efforts by Nicole’s parents to reverse the decision proved abortive.

In memory of the murdered German-American beauty, a foundation known as Nicole Simpson Foundation came into existence in 1994. The foundation which later took the name – Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation, aims at enlightening the communities through education, awareness and other means possible. Nicole’s sister Denise Brown was shoved to the spotlight following some financial controversies that came up about the foundation. Subsequently, the donations weren’t coming in as before and it affected the bedrock of the charity outfit.
