Noel Edmonds’ Bio

On the 22nd of December, 1948, in Ilford, Essex, England, Noel Ernest Edmonds was born to his parents; Lydia and Dudley Edmonds. He received his early education at Glade Primary School in Clayhall before switching to Brentwood School in Brentwood, Essex. By the time he was due to attend university, Edmonds had picked up an interest in working as a radio DJ. He had sent out recordings of himself to a number of radio stations across the UK and Europe, one of which replied and offered him a job.

Edmonds was offered a job as a newsreader for Radio Luxembourg. The job offer came around the same time he was also offered admission to attend the University of Surrey, which he ultimately turned down in favor of going abroad and taking up his dream job. After spending about a year abroad, Edmonds returned to the UK to work for BBC Radio 1. He began by first recording trailers for broadcasts and filling in for absent DJs before later getting his own two-hour Saturday afternoon programme in 1970.

His time slot kept being moved around by the station until 1973 when he was promoted to host The Radio 1 Breakfast Show. During this time, he took up several hosting and presenting jobs on television while still maintaining his radio work. He presented The Radio 1 Breakfast Show from June 1973 to April 1978 when he was moved to a three-hour slot on Sunday mornings as he was also given an hour-long talk show called Talkabout that was broadcast on Thursday evenings. In March 1983, his time with BBC Radio 1 came to an end and he moved on to television presenting with the BBC.

Noel Edmonds’ first noteworthy show after he left radio was The Late, Late Breakfast Show. He presented it from September 1982 to November 1986, when it was canceled by the BBC following the death to a stunt man in one of its segments. Edmonds moved to host other shows like Telly Addicts (1985-1998), Noel’s Saturday Roadshow (1988-1990), Noel’s House Party (1991-1999), and Deal or No Deal (2005-2016), among many others.

Net Worth

Noel Edmonds has an estimated net worth of £100 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. The Englishman made most of his wealth through his illustrious career in radio and television broadcasting that has lasted for over five decades. In 2006, Edmonds became one of the highest-paid personalities on UK television after he was offered a fee rumored to be around £3 million to extend his stay as presenter of the show, Deal or No Deal.

In addition to his on-screen career, Edmonds is also said to have made strides as a businessman. He is the founder of the Unique Group, which has interests in media operations. It is not clear if Unique Group is still functioning, as it was reported in 2005 that the group was destroyed by fraudulent HBOS financiers, which almost prompted Edmonds to consider suicide.

Noel Edmonds has been married three times. His first marriage was to Gillian Slater in 1971. The couple was together for eleven years before their union ended in divorce in 1982. Four years later, in July 1986, Edmonds married his second wife, Helen Soby, and the two went on to welcome four daughters; Charlotte, Lorna, Olivia and Alice. After 19 years together, in 2005 to be exact, the pair called it quits and Edmonds was again left a single man.

In the following years, as Edmonds hosted Deal or No Deal, he met and fell in love with Elizabeth Davies, who worked as a make-up artist on the show. The two later got married and in July 2009 and have been together ever since.
