The talented actor was born as Omri Haim Katz on the 30th of May 1976 in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of Rina and Yoram Katz who are Jewish immigrants to the United States. He was raised along with his two siblings, a brother named Michael and an elder sister named Lali.

At a very young age, Omri developed a keen interest in the performing arts and by the time he was seven, he had already started appearing in movies. Acting Career and Achievements

Omri Katz made his first film appearance in 1983 when he was cast in the CBS TV soap opera, Dallas. From 1983 to 1991, he portrayed the role of John Ross Ewing III, the son of the main character J.R. Ewing (played by Larry Hagman) and Sue Ellen Ewing (played by Linda Gray) on the show. Later on, he also appeared in the show’s sequel, Dallas: J.R. Returns in 1996. In 1984, he made a guest appearance in the American detective series, Simon & Simon which starred Jameson Parker and Gerald McRaney.

In the early ‘90s, the actor was seen playing the role of Marshall Teller in Eerie, Indiana from 1991 to 1992. He guest starred in an episode of The Family Channel series, Zorro, as well as in the TV film, Adventures in Dinosaur City in 1991. In the year that followed, he portrayed the role of Jason in an episode of The Torkelsons alongside Olivia Burnette and Connie Ray.

Omri got his big break in 1993 when he portrayed the character of Max Dennison in the fantasy horror comedy film, Hocus Pocus. Later in the same year, he also portrayed Stan in Joe Dante’s comedy film, Matinee. Next, he played a recurring role of Tony Hemingway in The John Larroquette Show from 1993 to 1995. His other acting credits include Freaks and Geeks (1999), and General Hospital (2000). The 2002 film, Journey Into Night, was his last screen appearance before his retirement.

For his outstanding performance in the CBS Soap Opera, Dallas, Omri Katz was honoured with a Soap Opera Digest Award for Outstanding Youth Actor in a Prime-Time Soap Opera in 1984.

Like we mentioned earlier, Omri Katz was born into a Jewish family. His parents – Rina and Yoram Katz were Israeli immigrants to the United States. Upon arrival in the US, they settled in Los Angeles, California where Omri and his siblings were born. The much we know is that while Omri was growing, he reportedly spent some time in Israel.
