Veteran actor Patrick Duffy has made significant contributions to American television for decades and counting. He has appeared in a string of TV shows. However, he is best known for is his role as Bobby Ewing, the good-natured brother of JR and Gary of the oil empire family in Dallas.

Duffy played the role from the late 70s to the early 90s and would reprise it in a remake that aired on TNT between 2012 and 2014. Patrick Duffy Biography (Age)

Patrick Duffy was born on the 17th of March 1949 in Townsend, Montana and was raised in Washington from the age of 12. From his days at Cascade High School, Duffy who had originally aspired to be a pro athlete knew he wanted to be an actor. As a member of the school’s drama club, he acted in many school plays.

He gained admission to study at the Professional Actors Training Program at the University of Washington, Seattle. Duffy graduated in 1971 with a degree in drama. During his senior year, he ruptured his vocal chords after which he created the position of actor-in-residence and would work as an interpreter for ballet and orchestra.

As a budding actor attempting to find his foot in the industry, Patrick Duffy worked many odd jobs to support himself. While starting out acting in off-Broadway, he worked as a carpenter. Subsequently, he would work other odd jobs including as a house painter, and as a grocery delivery man.

A couple of years after getting married, Dufy relocated with his wife to Hollywood where he began landing small parts in films and TV shows. He played Mark Harris in the TV series, Man from Atlantis. After the show’s cancellation, Duffy landed what would become his breakthrough role, the role of Bobby Ewing in Dallas.

After the show was canceled in 1991, Patrick Duffy went on to land other notable gigs including the role of Frank Lambert on the family sitcom, Step by Step, and Stephen Logan in The Bold and the Beautiful. Patrick has starred in numerous TV films and has lent his voice to animated characters.

Patrick Duffy has had a very successful career with at least three very successful TV show roles to his resume. The biggest contributor to his wealth is no doubt the success of Dallas. He earned $75,000 per episode for the debut 1978 season. Upon his return in 1986, he was signed to a $1 million bonus. The TV show has churned out a couple of reunions with Duffy as the co-producer. His net worth is estimated at $14 million.

His Wife and Parents

Patrick Duffy was born to tavern owners, Marie and Terence Duffy. Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Duffys in 1986 when two teenagers in an attempt to rob their tavern in Boulder, Montana, murdered Duffy’s parents. The boys were convicted and sentenced to 75 years in prison. One of the boys, Miller who later confessed to being the sole gunman at the robbery was released on parole in December 2007.

Patrick Duffy was married to Carlyn Rosser who was 10 years older than him from 1974 until her death in 2017. Duffy first met his wife in a bus around the same time when he worked in Washington as an interpreter for ballet, opera, and orchestra companies.

At the time, Carlyn was a ballet dancer with the First Chamber Dance Company of New York. She had originally begun her career as a child actress before she switched to ballet dancing from the age of 14. Carlyn would introduce Duffy to Buddhism, a religion he has come to practice all his life. Their wedding which took place on the 15th of February.

Their marriage produced two sons; Padraic Terence Duffy born in 1974 and Conor Frederick Duffy born in 1979. The family lived near Eagle Point, Oregon. They have four grandchildren. Duffy’s wife passed away on the 23rd of January 2017. After Duffy’s career and the show, Dallas were on a decline after Duffy’s character was killed off in 1985, it was his wife Carlyn that suggested that the 1985-1986 season be a dream to explain Duffy’s return in 1986.
