Before then, he played basketball in Louisiana Tech University as a power forward.

In his 12-years career with the NBA, Paul Millsap has earned several accolades and awards which includes the NBA All-Rookie Second Team and an NBA All-Star which he has won four times.

His Bio (Age)

Paul Millsap was born in Monroe, Louisiana on the 10th day of February 1985. He spent the early years of his life in Denver. His parents got divorced when he was very young and his mom Bettye Millsap – a strong-willed and independent woman decided to relocate to Denver with her four sons.

In Colorado, she worked long hours to support herself and her children, but n 1999 that is after about ten years away from Louisiana, Bettye decided to bring her sons back to the south after she caught her eldest son John taking her car out for a joyride. She confronted him, but he brushed it off saying everybody else is doing it, and it is no big deal.

When the family moved back to Louisiana, they settled down in Downsville a tiny town in the northern part of the state. Growing up Paul loved and played football, but when the family moved back to Louisiana, he was enrolled in Grambling High School, and there weren’t enough teenage boys to make up a school football team, thus, he was forced to join the basketball team. Looking back at that choice now, Paul said it was the best decision he has ever made.

During his time with the Grambling Panthers high school basketball team, Millsap was named a 4th-team Parade All-American. 247Sports.com considered him a 3-star recruit, he was also listed as the #31 power forward and 115th best player in the country.

After high school, he played college basketball at Louisiana Tech for three years (2003-2006), during this time, he recorded an average of 12.5, 12.4 and 13.3 rebounds for each game and this was enough to lead the nation in rebounding and he did that for 3 consecutive years.

Paul Millsap became the only player in the history of NCAA basketball to lead the nation in rebounding for three years in a row. After his junior season, he opted for NBA the Draft.

NBA Career

He began playing with the NBA professionally in 2006 after Utah Jazz drafted him as 47th overall in the second round of the 2006 NBA Draft. He would later sign a rookie scale contract with the franchise in August of the same year. At the end of his rookie season, Paul played a total of eighty-two games, led all rookies with 6 double-doubles and recorded an average of seven points per game and five rebounds per game.

By December 2008, Paul had played a total of 194 straight games and recorded a career-high 32 points in a match against Boston Celtic. In June 2009, the franchise handed Millsap a qualifying offer that made him a restricted free agent. The following month, Portland Trail Blazers offered him a 4-year contract worth $32 million and a signing bonus  $5.6 million. The Jazz matched the offer seven days later (they had the right to do so) and therefore kept Paul on their side until 2013.

In July 2013, Millsap signed a two-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks. In 2014, he recorded his first career triple-double of nineteen points, thirteen rebounds and ten assists in a match against Toronto Raptors that ended in a 118–113 overtime.

In 2015, he helped the Hawks finish with a 60–22 record – the team’s best finish since 1993–94 season. That same year, he earned his second consecutive All-Star nod. In July, he signed a 3-year contract extension with the franchise worth $59 million.

Paul Millsap continued playing for the Hawks until July 2017, when he moved over to the Denver Nuggets side after signing a 3-year contract worth $90 million. His debut game with the team was a match against his former team Utah Jazz, although the team lost to Jazz, Paul scored nineteen points. In November 2017, he sustained an injury on his left wrist and had to undergo a reconstructive surgery that left him on injury reserve for several months.

His first game after his recovery was in February 2018, in a match against the Los Angeles Clippers where he recorded 9 points and 7 rebounds. The following month, he scored a season-high of 36 points which helped Nuggets beat the Oklahoma City Thunder.

His Salary

With his recent contract with the Nuggets that is worth $90 million, Millsap’s annual take-home pay is $20.07 million. Seeing that he is still at the top of his game and would probably decorate his career stats the more, Paul might as well land better offers with bigger pays.
