Pete Wentz – Bio

While he is better known as Pete Wentz, the singer was born Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III in 1979 in Wilmette, Illinois. Of English and German descent, he was brought up alongside his younger siblings, Hillary and Andrew.

For his education, Wentz attended the New Trier High School and then went to North Shore Country Day School. Even though music was his first love, he was also an athletic kid while growing up, he played Soccer in school, becoming an all-star. At a point, he considered having a career in sports, but later decided he would be more fulfilled as a singer.

In his early times in high school, Wentz would skip school with friends to smoke marijuana, but because he realized it was affecting his grade, he called it quits. After high school, he was off to DePaul University where he studied Political Science but did not graduate as he decided to drop out shortly before his graduation to focus on his musical career with the Fall Out Boy band.

Before joining the band, Pete Wentz was first involved with various hardcore punk bands in the 1990s such as the First Born in 1993, the Indy hardcore band Birthright, Extinction, Arma Angelus, Yellow Road Priest, and Racetraitor. Nonetheless, it was with the Fall Out Boy which he formed with Joe Trohman that he came to make fame.

The band released an EP, Fall Out Boy/Project Rocket Split EP in 2002, and then Take This to Your Grave in 2003. From then on, it released 6 more albums with the most recent, Mania, in 2018. From 2010 to 2012, when the band took a break, Wentz formed and became a part of the Black Cards with others like Bebe Rexha, Nate Patterson, and Spencer Peterson.

Although as pointed out, he has enjoyed massive success as a singer, he also has some health challenges caused by a bipolar disorder that he has suffered from since he was eighteen. He attempted suicide in 2015 by taking an overdose of Ativan which is an anxiety medication. Following the incident, he spent a week in the hospital.

Parents, Wife, and Kids

Pete’s parents are Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz II and Dale Wentz. While his father as an attorney, his mother was a high school admissions counsellor. They were said to have met in the 1970s during a campaign for former Vice President  who was running for the Senate.

At the MTV VMAs in 2006, Pete Wentz met singer, Ashlee Simpson and soon afterwards, they began dating. In 2008, she was seen wearing a diamond ring which she revealed was a promise from Wentz. A few months later, the two announced their engagement only to marry less than a month after confirming the engagement in May 2018.

The couple’s first child, Bronx Mowgli was born by Ashly in November 2008. Although Wentz believed his marriage was going to be forever since his parents have stayed together, it was not to be as Ashlee filed for a divorce from Wentz in 2010 on the grounds of irreconcilable differences. The divorce was finalized in the same year.

He got into another relationship with model Meagan Camper in the fall of 2011. In 2014, they announced on Instagram that they were expecting their first child together. The child came as Saint Lazslo in August of the same year. The next time they would take to Instagram to announce that they were expecting a child was in January 2018, and by May, Camper gave birth to their second child, Marvel Jane Wentz. Although the couple lives together happily with their kids, there is yet to be a talk about marriage.

Having come a long way as a musician, Pete Wentz has both fame and fortune to show for all his hard work. That said, he has a net worth that has been estimated at $16 million. He made a large chunk of his fortune from his musical career.

Wentz is not necessarily the tallest musician that you will find as he only stands at a height of 5ft 6 (167.6 cm). His body weight is ‎67 kg (148 lbs).
