Peter Michael Escovedo: Bio

Peter Michael Escovedo III was born on 7th July 1961 in Alameda County, California, the United States to Pete Escovedo and Juanita Gardere. He has Mexican and African-American heritage. Peter grew up immersed in the music scene through his deep-rooted musical family.

His father, Pete Escovedo is a percussionist as well as his siblings, Juan Escovedo and Sheila Escovedo – who is better known as Sheila E. He has another sibling, Zina who is a renowned dancer, manager and promoter. The Escovedo’s musical family also include his uncles, Coke Escovedo – a percussionist, famous recording artist Alejandro Escovedo, Javier Escovedo of The Zeros, Mario Escovedo of The Dragons, as well as his cousin, René Escovedo who is a drummer.

Growing up, he watched his father, who is also an original member of Santana, and his uncles perform. In time, he joined in the family business, starting as a percussionist. He went ahead to become a producer, singer, composer, music director, and TV personality. Through the years, Escovedo has also contributed to innumerable world tours, recordings and television productions.

As a producer, Peter Michael Escovedo has produced many TV shows and CDs and also worked as a musical director for various programs and performers like , Stevie Nicks, and Luther Vandross. The TV programs he has worked on include ABC’s High School Musical: Get in the Picture, The Wayne Brady Show, Fuse’ Redemption Song, and VH1’s But Can They Sing? Some of the CDs he has produced include his orchestra’s E-Street and Flying South, Moments, Delo, Sheila E’s Sex Cymbal, Revival Center Choir’s I Still Have My Joy, Phil Klein’s Cruise Control among others.

Peter Michael Escovedo is also an actor and has recorded music for such films as Jack, Dragon, The Preacher’s Wife and Living Out Loud. He has also theme songs for some TV shows. Besides, he has composed, arranged and produced music for various artists such as , , Kenny G, Ray Obiedo, and Marvin Gaye. Escovedo has even toured with headliners like , and . He Is The biological Father Of Nicole Richie

The world knows Nicole Richie as the daughter of Lionel Richie and as ‘s older sister; however, she is not Lionel Richie’s biological daughter. The music legend and his ex-wife Brenda Harvey officially adopted her when she was nine years old. She was actually born Nicole Camille Escovedo to Peter Michael Escovedo and his then-wife, Sheila E’s executive assistant, Karen Moss.

They were having issues in their relationship and thus, were not able to provide for and cater to their daughter. At Richie’s suggestion, they allowed Nicole to stay with him, with the belief that he would be better able to provide for her. He adopted her a few years later.
