He was born Peter Palandjian on February 12, 1964, in Boston, Massachusetts to Petros A. Palandjian and his wife, Sheila Kelly Palandjian. He grew up with his brother Paul Palandjian in the town he was birthed.

For his education, Peter Palandjian studied at the incorporated academy, Phillips Academy Andover, after which he attended the prestigious Harvard University where he obtained a degree in English and American Literature. While pursuing his passion for business, he went to study at Harvard Business School and obtained a certificate in business.

He was a two-time captain of the Harvard tennis team, Peter participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) tournament both in the singles and doubles categories. The following year, Peter picked up a victory against his opponent Jay Lapidus at the Stratton Mountain tournament and also against Ricardo Acuna and Mark Dickson at the Raleigh tournament. He also participated in a double category that same year, partnering with Bud Schultz at the Bossonnens Switzerland and Helsinki Finland tournament, where they picked up a win against their opponents.

1988 saw Peter Palandjian participate in three different tournaments in the double category, he and his partner Jeff Klaparda triumphed at the Aptos, U.S and Helsinki, Finland championships. He later teamed up with his brother Paul at the Grand Prix championship in Boston 1989.
