Ralph Fiennes is a well-acclaimed English actor and filmmaker. Back in the 1990s, he earned much critical acclaim for his roles in the blockbuster films Schindler’s List (1993) and The English Patient (1996). Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes was born on December 22, 1962, in Ipswich Suffolk, England. His parents were Mark Fiennes and Jennifer Lash. As a teenager, his family moved to Ireland where they settled for several years. There, he schooled at St Kieran’s College for a year after which he transferred to Newtown School. His family eventually moved back to England where he completed his schooling at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Fiennes originally enrolled to study painting at Chelsea College of Art but after a while, he quit to pursue his true passion, acting. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art from 1983 to 1985. Ralph Fiennes started his acting career at the Open Air Theatre as well as the National Theatre before eventually gaining prominence at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Fiennes marked his big screen debut in 1992 as the lead star of the epic film Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Ralph Fiennes’ father Mark Fiennes (1933–2004) was a photographer and illustrator and his mother Jennifer Lash (1938–1993) was a novelist and painter. He has 5 siblings and a good number of them are also involved in showbiz. Among his siblings are Joseph Fiennes, an actor, Martha Fiennes, a movie director, Sophie Fiennes, a filmmaker, Magnus Fiennes, a musician as well as Jacob Fiennes, a conservationist. He equally has a foster brother Michael Emery who is an archaeologist.

Ralph Fiennes is currently unmarried but has been married in the past. Back in 1993, he tied the knot with English actress Alex Kingston. The marriage ended in a divorce in 1997 following allegations of infidelity against Fiennes.
