He spent a lot of time while growing up between Germany, California, and England during which time he took interest in basketball and trained extensively. When his parents finally settled at South Carolina, Ray Allen was a weapon for his high school team at Hillcrest High School. With his help, the school won its first state championship which announced him to scouts and college coaches as a supreme talent. When college decisions came around, Ray Allen had developed enough reputation to have his pick of some of the best college basketball programs in the country. He went with the University of Connecticut.

At the University of Connecticut, Ray Allen cleared any doubt remaining of his ability to play in the NBA. He spent three years at the college, winning several individual honors for his performances although his team never managed to lay their hands on a trophy. Some of his college honors include first team All American and getting named as the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year. UConn honored his name and jersey number in 2007. He finished his college career third on the University’s career scoring list.

When NBA came calling, Ray Allen was a man ready to take on the biggest league in the world. He joined the NBA as shooting guard for the Milwaukee Bucks and finished his first season named in the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. After his first four seasons in the NBA, Ray Allen took his performance up a notch and began the establishment of a legacy that would be talked about for years to come. He played his first All-Star game on the 99/00 season and was the Bucks’ leading scorer in the regular and postseason. His time at the Bucks finally ended in the 2002/03 season, and he was moved to the Seattle SuperSonics. He was at the Sonics from 2003 to 2007, setting several personal records including climbing to the second place in the NBA 3 point field goals list.

After leaving the Sonics, Ray Allen moved to the Celtics where he spent 6 years, got his first NBA Championship in a win over LA Lakers, and was named 3rd best player in Milwaukee Bucks franchise history.
