Savannah Guthrie is a lawyer and broadcast journalist who currently works with NBC News. She is the co-host of the popular NBC morning TV show Today which she hosts alongside Hoda Kotb. Savannah Guthrie’s Biography (Age)

Savannah Clark Guthrie as she was named at birth was born on December 27, 1971, in Melbourne, Australia. Her father, Charles Guthrie, who died in 1987 from a heart attack, worked in Melbourne at the time she was born but moved his family down to the United States when Savannah was two years old. Her mother, Nancy Guthrie was a homemaker but returned to work after her husband died. Savannah Clark is also the name of her great-grandmother.

She was raised in Tucson, Arizona where her family settled after moving from Australia. As a kid growing up alongside her two siblings; a brother named Camron and a sister named Annie, Savannah learned to play the piano and was also keen on playing tennis. She had her high school education in Tucson at the Amphitheater High School, graduated in 1989 and was classmates with Michael Bates, who is today, an NFL player and Olympic medalist.

She enrolled at the University of Arizona – and was a member of the Arizona Alpha chapter of Pi Beta Phi – from where she graduated cum laude in 1993 with a bachelors degree in journalism. She got a job and started working immediately after college. Savannah worked on TV at ABC affiliate KMIZ in Missouri and in 1995, she joined NBC affiliate KVOA in Tucson.

She also worked in Washington D.C. with WRC-TV where she covered the 9/11 terrorist attacks and also the anthrax attacks (aka Amerithrax) in 2001 which targeted US senators and resulted in the deaths of five people. After working for a while, she decided to go back to school, this time to obtain a degree in law from the Georgetown University Law Center. She would come out tops in the Arizona bar exams and earned a Juris Doctor degree in 2002.

Career

Armed with a law degree and membership of Order of the Coif, Savannah Guthrie decided to practice by attaching herself with a law firm. She worked as a litigation associate for Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld and then as trial correspondent of CourtTV. Prior to working at NBC News in 2007, she covered several high-profile lawsuits, including the  trial in 2005.

Savannah worked as NBC News’s Chief Legal Analyst before she started working on The Today Show in 2011. She was subsequently named as a replacement for Ann Curry as the co-host of the show following the promotion of the latter. She anchored the show with  before he left and was replaced by Hoda Kotb.

Lawyer-cum-journalist, Savannah Guthrie is currently married to Michael Feldman but that is her second marriage. She was first married to English-born journalist, Mark Orchard. Orchard, who works with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a TV presenter was married to Savannah for four years (2005-2009).

The duo met while they were covering the Michael Jackson trial for their respective media firms and at that time Orchard was married to a fellow journalist, Anne Kornblut. Their marriage never stood a chance after he met Savannah Guthrie and after he divorced Kornblut, Savannah was next and the rest is history.

Guthrie began dating Michael Feldman, a former political aide to Al Gore, the same year after her divorce from Orchard and after dating for four years, the couple got engaged in May 2013 and got married the next year in her hometown of Tucson. The first fruit of the marriage, a daughter, was born five months later on August 13, 2014, and she was named Vale Guthrie Feldman. She is not the only child in their union. On December 8, 2016, Guthrie and Feldman welcomed a boy-child who they named Charles Max Feldman.
