Scott Andrew Caan was born to James Caan – an Oscar-nominated actor, and Sheila Marie Ryan – a former model on the 23rd August 1976 in Los Angeles, California. Scott is the second child born to his father, having an older half-sister and three younger half-brothers. His grandparents were Jewish immigrants from Germany.

Before he got his start in acting, Scott was very involved with music. He first began as an aspiring rapper in the early 90s when he was a roadie for the rap groups ‘Cypress Hill’ and ‘House of Pain’. He later became a part of a rap group, The Whooliganz, rapping under the pseudonym, Mad Skillz. The other member of the group was The Alchemist – a producer, and a rapper. The group was signed onto a record label, Tommy Boy Records in the early days of their existence. They also recorded an album titled Make Way for The W. The label dropped the group after the release of their first single; their recorded album was officially shelved and the group was dissolved.

After the unsuccessful pursuit of a music career, Scott Caan enrolled at the Playhouse West Acting school to become a professional actor. He graduated in the early 90s and began appearing in several independent films.

In the early stages of his career, he appeared in several major feature films alongside notable actors. His debut major film, Varsity Blues was released in 1999. He has acted alongside big names like in American Outlaws and in Gone in 60 seconds. He appeared in the cult classic heist trilogy, Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen. He is also a film director, who made his directorial debut with the film, Dallas 362. The film won a 2003 Las Vegas Film Festival prize.

Scott Caan has since settled into a career as a major television actor. Before he became the popular detective Danny Williams in Hawaii Five-0, he was a major recurring actor on HBO’s comedy-drama, Entourage, appearing in 19 episodes as Scott Lavin.
