Most actresses and actors we see on the screen have only one talent. However, there are also a lot of them who are super multi-talented; they have an interest in other career paths and are competent in them as well. Shaun Johnston, a Canadian actor is one of such multi-hyphenates, who has excelled in more than one career field.

Unlike most Canadian stars, Shaun is a late bloomer. He launched his career in the movie industry in the year 1990 at the age of thirty-two. This obviously explains why doesn’t have an avalanche of film and TV shows on his acting timeline. Shaun Johnston is a director, an actor, singer, and guitarist. He was born on the 9th of June, 1958, in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada. The Canadian actor was raised on a farm in Ponoka, Alberta, which lies between Red Deer and Edmonton. Johnston is a high school graduate, however, the name of the institution is not known yet. While he was there, he was a member of his school’s basketball team. He later obtained a degree from Red Deer College and later bagged a job at the Alberta Treasury Branch.

He decided to move to Toronto in the early 1980s to pursue a career in fashion photography. Although it was not an easy job, the actor eventually broke into the industry and later became a runway model. As a model, he promoted several brands on the runway. A few years after he joined the modeling industry, Shaun Johnston began to develop a strong interest in performing art.

This prompted him to relocate to Alberta in order to take up classes at Red Deer College. Shaun Johnston ended up majoring in theatre and later obtained a BFA from the University of Alberta’s selective drama program.

Movies and TV Shows

Shaun Johnston started acting in the year 1990, as hinted earlier. He scored his first role in the 1993 feature film in Two Brothers, a Girl and a Gun, a comedy-drama. His role as a loose-living biker earned him an Alberta Film & Television Award for best actor.

Other professional film credits by the Ponoka, Alberta native include Blood Clan (1990, as Jerry), Heart of the Sun (1998, as Harry), Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004, as Jack), Supervolcano (2005, as Matt), A Friend of the Family (2005, as Coleridge), Broken Trail (2006, as Smallpox Jack), and Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007, as Col. Nelson A. Miles).

In the television industry, Shaun Johnston has also starred in a handful of productions. The actor made her first television appearance as Jake Trumper in the project, Jake and the Kid, which ran from the year 1995 to 1996. He was equally cast as Ben Sullivan in Traders which lasted from 1996 to 2000. Between 1998 and 2001, Johnston was featured as Roy Cates in the project, Mentors, after which he starred as Marshal Sid Flemming in Da Vinci’s Inquest from the year 1998 to 2005.

The actor made some of his recent appearances in productions like Delmer & Marta (2016, as Tom) and Wynonna Earp (2016-2018, as Juan Carlos). According to Wiki, Johnston made his last appearance on television in the project, Heartland. He portrayed the fictional character Jackson “Jack” Bartlett in the series which ran from 2007 to 2019.

Wife

The Canadian actor is happily married to the love of his life, a beautiful woman called Sue Johnston. The exact year and location the two tied the knot are yet to be revealed by the actor, however, his social media page is enough to affirm the love that exists between Shaun Johnston and his wife.

According to reports, Sue is a mother as well. She gave birth to two sons for her husband and the two are doing great in their respective fields of interest. Sometime in the month of March 2016, Shaun mentioned in a post he shared on Instagram that one of his sons is called Cael Johnston and that they were visiting Oil Kings playoff game. The name of his other son is not known to the public, however, we believe he is also supportive of his dad’s acting career. The guitarist currently resides outside Calgary, Alberta along with his wonderful family.
