The amazing star Simona Halep was born in Constanta, Romania, on September 27, 1991. Her parents Tania and Stere Halep are both of Aromanian descent and her father was a former football player. He currently owns a dairy products factory in Romania. The multi-talented star began playing tennis since she was four years old. She grew up with her sister Luminita and an older brother who motivated her so much at the time. Her role models were Andrei Pavel and Justine Henin at the time. When she was sixteen she moved to Bucharest where she focused on her tennis career. Nothing much is known about her educational background.

Career

The skillful tennis prodigy started her career in 2008; she participated in the junior tennis competitions in Nothinghill as well as the Australian Junior Championships. She lost to Arantxa Rus in the finals of the former and also lost to Jessica Moore in the latter. Halep further made an appearance at the Roland Garros Junior championship, finishing top in the all-Romanian final. Later on, she joined the senior development ITF tournaments, winning $10,000 in tournaments at Bucharest.

Halep started her professional career in 2010 when she joined the Australian Open, however, she lost to Stephanie Foretz in the first qualifying round. In 2016, Halep defeated Dominika Cibulkova in straight sets to win her second Premier Mandatory title at the Mutua Madrid Open. Although she reached the WTA finals in Beijing, she eventually lost to the winner Shuai Zhang. The following year became the climax of her career. After she put up an outstanding performance, Halep was placed at the No 1 position on the WTA rankings in 2017.
