Sir Patrick Stewart’s Bio, Age

Patrick Stewart was born on 13 July 1940 in Mirfield, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. His parents were Gladys (née Barrowclough), a weaver and textile worker, and Alfred Stewart, a regimental sergeant major in the British Army. He was the third son in a family of five. His two brothers are Geoffrey who was born on January 28, 1925, and Trevor who arrived on August 10, 1935. Patrick’s childhood was marked by domestic violence with his father being at the forefront, an experience that would form the basis for his political and ideological beliefs.

He thought women will not be interested in him again after he became bald at 18 as a result of alopecia areata. With the experience, he became timid and took to acting for expression and to find solace. But years later, he would have a lot of women seeking his attention and went on to marry three times.

His acting career was spread out among Manchester’s Library Theatre, where he was for only a short time, Royal Shakespeare Company, Broadway Theatre, Television Series and films. He is a Star Trek legend and has many works both stage, TV and in films to his credit. His many works include Life enforce, Gunmen, Christmas Eve, X-Men film series, Fall of Eagles, Blunt Talks, Macbeth, Eleventh Hour, Family Guy.

For his extraordinary performances and contributions, he has been widely recognized and has won many accolades. He won a Grammy Award in 1996 and is a multiple time Olivier, Emmy, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Saturn Award nominees. TV Guide named him the Best Dramatic Television Actor of the 1980s in 1993. A star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was added to his cap in December 1996.

Sir Patrick Stewart was appointed a Knight Bachelor by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama on July 2, 2010, in addition to his earlier appointment as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2001.

Is Sir Patrick Stewart Gay?

Speculations were rife as per his gay status after he kissed his longtime friend, the Lord of the Ring actor, Sir Ian McKellen while they walked the red carpet in London on June 10, 2015, for the premiere of Ian’s new Sherlock Holmes mystery Mr Holmes. While Ian came out as gay in 1988 during a BBC Radio programme, Patrick is clearly not gay though he could have only kissed and smooched up with his friend to show support.

He sees it as only appropriate going by the fact that they are intimate friends, and he sees nothing wrong with two men kissing.

Ian confirms that Patrick is straight and has absolutely no problem with having gay friends. Patrick further reiterated this fact when he supported the right of Christian bakers to refuse to make cakes they find offensive. With him being mistaken as gay, the actor laughed off the report and added that he is .

Wife, Son and Daughter

His personal life is just as interesting if not more so than his professional life is. The actor extraordinaire was married thrice. He married his first wife, Sheila Falconer, the mother of his two children in 1966. The union ended in divorce after 24 years in 1990.

His second attempt at marriage was to producer Wendy Neuss. That only lasted from August 2000 to 2003. Sir Patrick didn’t, however, give up on the institution of marriage after two trials but got into it a third time. His choice was a surprise to many as his current wife is 38 years younger than him and could even be mistaken for his daughter.

That was other’s opinion though and it mattered nothing to the lovebirds. She is Sunny Ozell, an American singer and songwriter born December 23, 1978. Sir Patrick Stewart met Sunny in 2008 in NYC while she was a waitress at Franny’s. He was in New York at that time for a Brooklyn Academy of Music production of Macbeth.

Sir Ian McKellen officiated their marriage in 2013. The choice to have his friend officiate their wedding was Sunny’s idea though.

His two children are Daniel who was born in 1967 and Sophia. Daniel took after his father and he acts in television. He appeared alongside his legendary father as his son in the 1992 Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, The Inner Light where and in the 1993 TV film Death Train.
