During the 2011 season, Ryu finished at the second position in the KLPGA and also emerged as the winner at the Lotte Cantata Open. Later in the same year, she participated in the US Women’s Open held in Colorado Springs in July 2011.

Following her impressive performance, Ryu beat her Korean counterpart Hee Kyung Seo to win the tournament making her the third-youngest woman to win the tournament other is Se Ri Pak.
