Stella Stevens Bio
Stella Stevens was born Estelle Caro Eggleston on October 1, 1938, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, U.S. She was the only child of her parents; Thomas Ellett Eggleston, an insurance salesman and Dovey Estelle Caro, a nurse. Stella would come to spend the most of her childhood in Memphis, Tennessee, where her parents had relocated to when she was 4 years old.
She graduated from Memphis Tech High School in 1955 after which she proceeded to Memphis State College to study medicine, hoping to follow in her mother’s footsteps. It was in college that Stevens fell in love with acting and sought to pursue it full time. She began acting professionally in the late 50s. Within the space of a year, Stevens had made her impact in the film industry. She earned a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year, thanks to her performance in Say One for Me (1959) which was her film debut.
Stella Stevens quickly added modeling to her repertoire. For the rest of the 1960s, she impressed with roles in Girls! Girls! Girls!, The Nutty Professor, and The Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Stevens worked regularly in her career through to the 1990s. From the new millennium, she became occasionally active. Stella Stevens directed and produced a couple of works including The American Heroine and The Ranch.
Net Worth
Stella Stevens enjoyed a successful career that spanned over 4 decades. Her net worth is estimated at $10 million and she has possessions which include a ranch in Methow Valley near Carlton, Washington. She also owns a bakery and an art gallery in Twisp, Washington.
Family – Partner, Son
Stevens’ marriage to one Noble Herman Stephens whom she met as a teenager when her family relocated to Tennessee is the only marriage she has ever been in. Stella married Herman who was an electrician when she was just 15 years old. At 16, she gave birth to their only son Herman Andrew Stevens better known as Andrew Stevens.
Stella’s marriage to Herman lasted for just a couple of years as they divorced when she had turned 17. At the time of their divorce, Stella had become serious about chasing a professional acting career, thus, she maintained a modified version of her husband’s name, changing it from Stephens to Stevens.
Their son Andrew who was born on June 10, 1955, would go on to follow in the footsteps of Stella to become part of the entertainment industry as an actor, film producer, and director. His acting career peaked from the 1970s down to the 80s, a period when he was active both in film and TV. He is known for such projects like Massacre at Central High (1976), Vigilante Force (1976), The Fury (1978), and The Boys in Company C (1978) for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination.
From the 1990s, Andrew became active in behind-the-scenes roles, writing, directing, and producing. He established the now-defunct Franchise Pictures which produced a number of films for Warner Bros. Andrew continues to make films under Andrew Stevens Entertainment and Stevens Entertainment Group. Andrew and his mom have collaborated on a number of projects.
Stella’s son has been married thrice. His first marriage to actress Kate Jackson lasted from 1978 to 1982. He then married Robyn Suzanne Scott in 1995. Their marriage produced Andrew’s only 3 kids and Stella’s only three grandchildren – Samuel Andrew Stevens, Amelia Grace Stevens, and Aubrey Estelle Stevens. Andrew and Robyn divorced in 2010. He tied the knot in 2016 with Diana Phillips Hoogland and two years later, in 2018, they were divorced.
The only other man that Stella Stevens has been linked with is guitarist and Grammy-winning record producer, Bob Kulick. They began a long-term relationship in 1983 and were confirmed to still be together in 1990, a time when they lived together in Steven’s Beverly Hills abode. Not much has been heard about them since then and it remains unclear if they are still together.
Is She Dead?
NOPE! As far as we know, Stella Stevens is still very much alive. The world is fond of speculating the death of a star when they have not been active for a long time but Stella Stevens isn’t one who would pass without the media getting an immediate notification.
Before she became completely inactive in the entertainment scene, Stevens slowly drifted from film and focused more in TV series and miniseries. She turned 80 in 2018 and is apparently enjoying the late years of her life away from the media eyes.
