Stephanie McGovern is one woman who radiates energy and enthusiasm each time she hosts a show on prominent television platforms. She is therefore known as a television presenter and journalist who serves as the recurring presenter with the BBC. Most times she either hosts or co-hosts the BBC Breakfast show or Watchdog. Steph McGovern was born in Middlesbrough, England on the 31st of May 1982. As a kid, there wasn’t any major sign or inkling that she would consider a career in journalism or television presenting but life took a different route for her in her adult life. Steph was a very smart kid who was expected to take up a science-related profession due to the scientific adeptness she exhibited at such a young age. In fact, when she was still in form six she was given an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship. This was due to her impressive academic and practical performance which showed off her potential to become an asset to the engineering industry.

Some of the courses she took on included; business studies, physics, design technology, and maths. By the time she was 18, Steph McGovern had helped the Black & Decker company save a whopping £150,000 yearly. She was able to achieve this by developing a technique which improved the production process for the company’s Leaf Hog Product. As a result of the impressive feat, Steph Mcgovern received the ‘Young Engineer for Britain’ award in 2001 when she was 19 years old.

Steph later gained admission into the University College London in the Department of Science and Technology Studies, where she studied Policy and Science Communication.

Upon graduating from college, Steph McGovern got the opportunity to gain work experience at the BBC. On the network, she worked on the programme Tomorrow’s World. Luckily for her, she was able to secure employment with the network on a part-time basis working in the current affairs section as a researcher. She then moved to work on Radio 4 as the head producer for the station’s daily financial news called Today. Her next move was back to BBC where she worked with Robert Peston, the business editor at the time to produce the station’s One, Six and Ten O’Clock news bulletins.

Her presenting role for BBC Radio 5 Live began in 2010. For the station, she presented the Wake Up to Money show and was one of the recurring Sunday evening presenters. In 2018, Steph McGovern showed off her reply skills when she reminisced one of her 2012 interviews with American president . After trump had referred to her as “beautiful” in the course of the interview, she replied to him saying that she had heard better lines in Club Bongo in Middlesbrough.

Asides the fact that she works in media, Steph McGovern is an Irish dance champion who still coaches dance and attends competitions internationally.
