Tara Setmayer is known for her role as a political analyst on the international news network CNN. She equally contributes on several prime-time news programs on different platforms including The View and Good Morning America on the ABC and Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

As a political activist, Setmayer was a member of the board of directors of the Stand Up Republic, a non-profit constituted in the wake of America’s 2016 presidential elections to defend the nation’s democracy. She equally features on ABC News as a guest analyst.

Tara Setmayer Bio, Age and Ethnicity

Tara Olivia Setmayer was born on September 9, 1975, in Queens, New York. She is biracial; her mother is Caucasian with European roots and her father is an African American. Setmayer identifies as a “woman of color” but not as an African American.

The media personality grew up in Paramus, a borough of Bergen County in northern New Jersey. She had her high school education at Paramus High School in New Jersey and she graduated in 1993. For her college education, she studied at The George Washington University in Washington D.C. She graduated in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

Despite growing up among a predominantly democrat population, Setmayer turned out to be a staunch conservative. She is a bold and confident analyst known for her “tell it like it is” style of commentary. She describes herself as a “sane conservative” and, is widely regarded as an outspoken critic of the United States President, ‘s administration.

Prior to her career on TV, Tara Setmayer served as the communications director on Capitol Hill to Californian GOP Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (2006-2013). She equally concerned herself with matters relating to immigration and law enforcement. Within that period, she worked tirelessly to secure the release of jailed U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean who were imprisoned unjustly.

Setmayer also served as a resource person for the Republican state and local political training organization GOPAC. She also served as a research fellow and communications expert for the Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education (CURE), a D.C.-based conservative political organization.

Her career as a political contributor has seen her feature in several news programs on Fox News Channel, ABC, HBO, PBS, and C-SPAN. All these roles have equipped her to function as a credible pundit on matters relating to politics in the United States. From 2013 to 2014, Tara Setmayer served as a co-host on the nightly news program on The Blaze TV. She has also featured as a guest host on the satellite/online radio network SiriusXM.

Tara Setmayer joined the CNN in 2014. She played a key role in the 2014 and 2016 US elections regularly contributing in several of the network’s prime-time political programs including CNN’s NewsroomErin Burnett OutFront,  360° and CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. Tara Setmayer was named as one of the “Top 20 Election Coverage Stars” of the 2016 US elections by Vulture.com.

Tara Setmayer’s first stint at CNN ran through the 2014 and 2016 US election series. She rejoined the network in January 2018.

Her Family – Parents and Husband

Tara Setmayer’s mother Jacquelyn Setmayer is half Italian and half German. There is little information about her father except for the fact that he is originally from Guatemala. She was raised by her mother in Paramus, New Jersey. Her mother’s family had lived in Paramus for ages. Her maternal grandfather Emil Setmayer was an officer of the Paramus Police Department prior to his retirement.

Tara Setmayer is currently married to Marcelle Love. The couple tied the knot on September 4, 2013, in a private ceremony at Castello di Caccamo, in the coastal Italian city of Sicily. Just like her dad, there is little information about her husband Marcelle in the public domain, however, we are in the know that he is a law enforcement agent. The couple lives in Newyork City.
