He is also popular for being the husband of the co-host of the show Christina El Moussa, until January 2018, when the couple finalized their divorce, after being separated since 2015.

Tarek El Moussa’s Bio, Age, Ethnicity

Tarek was born in Long Beach California on August 21, 1981. He grew up in Buena Park, California.

There are, however, inconsistency in the information about his ethnicity as sources suggest his father is a Moroccan born in Egypt. Other than these, there is no other information about his parents, siblings, ethnicity, early background as well as his educational background.

Religion

There have been so many speculations, about Tarek El Moussa’s religion and religious beliefs. Some think he is a Muslim since his ethnicity is traced to Egpty and since his last name sounds Islamic, while others are of the opinion that he is a Jew, whatever it is, we will have to wait for him to clear this out.

According to HGTV profile on him, Tarek actually got his real estate license when he was just 21 years old, that was long before he and his ex-wife began flipping homes and in no time,  carved a niche for themselves and began earning from it big time.

Like many other businesses, the journey wasn’t that easy. Tarek went into real estate after getting his license and was doing well until the 2008 housing market crash which left him almost bankrupt and had to start almost from the scratch.

Tarek recalled how he would drive around scouting houses in the early hours of the morning after their addresses get listed on the auction site.

He also recalled in an interview that before the Flip or Flop fame came, he had no real experience whatsoever about flipping houses and yet he was willing to give it a trial. He also recalled how they had no capital for a startup, and they (he and his ex) put up a plan and went in search of capital from family and friends and how they didn’t receive a penny as everyone thought they were just crazy.

A breakthrough came in 2011 when Tarek and a friend made an audition tape of them flipping a house from start to finish and sent it to HGTV. A year later, they were offered a weekly time slot to host Flip or Flop – a show dedicated to buying and selling homes in Southern California.

According to him, when the show initially launched, HGTV wasn’t sure if it will do well, thus, they were given the 11 p.m. slot. But to its amazement and that of many others, the show did much more than was expected, garnering more than 1 million viewers by the end of its first season. The show grew so big that by August 2016, it became the highest rated show on cable, with about 2.864 million viewers.

Tarek and his ex-wife Christina made it big by showcasing their real estate and interior design savvy on the show they find, buy, renovate and flip houses for profit.

Net Worth

With his recent divorce and issues on how the fortune jointly owned with his ex will be split, it is a bit difficult to categorically state how much Tarek is currently worth.

But as at 2013, he revealed to The Orange County Register that they (he and his ex) made $10,000 for each episode of Flip or Flop, and their net worth was about $4 million.

About His Divorce And New Girlfriend

As earlier mentioned, Tarek El Moussa was married to his partner on the HGTV show Christina El Moussa from 2009 to 2015. Although their divorce was finalized in January 2018, the couple went their separate ways in 2015.

Tarek was first to file for divorce in December 2016 and Christina did same six months after. They have two lovely children together, Taylor El Moussa (born 22 December 2010) and Brayden El Moussa (born in 2015).

They have since moved on with their lives. Christina was linked with a guy named Gary Anderson and then with Nate Thompson and currently with  British TV personality Ant Anstead.

Tarek was also rumoured to be dating his children’s nanny, Alyssa Logan at the time but he is currently been linked with lingerie model Patience Silva and they are said to be in love.
