Terrance West is an American football player who plays the running back position. West is currently a free agent. He began his professional career in 2014 after he was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. He has also played for NFL’s Tennessee Titans, the Baltimore Ravens, and the New Orleans Saints. Before his NFL career, he played college football at Towson.

Terrance West’s Brief Bio

West was born January 28, 1991, in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A and as a running back at Northwestern High School, Baltimore, Maryland, he recorded a total of 4,700 yards to earn the All-Baltimore City selection twice, he was also earned an honorable mention All-Metro selection.

As a junior, he amassed a total of 1,500 yards and 2,000 yards as a senior, leading his team to a 7–3 record as a junior and a 9–1 record as a senior. West was also a member of the school’s baseball, basketball and track & field teams back at Northwestern High. He was the highest scorer on his conference championship basketball team. He is also a member of the top-ranked 4×100-meter relay team in the state.

After high school, Terrance aspired to play college football but he didn’t get plenty of opportunities from schools due to his low academic qualifications and performances. However, still bent on pursuing his dreams of playing college football, he chose to enroll at the Fork Union Military Academy, Virginia but he had to leave after one year due to distance.

His stay at Fork Union Military Academy still didn’t get him a scholarship offer, so he had to look for a school that will accept him as a transfer student. During this period, he took up a job as a salesperson at a Jimmy Jazz clothing store. And when all his plans and efforts to attend Clemson University, University of Maryland and Morgan State University failed, Terrance West eventually opted for Towson University after getting in touch with the head-coach and learning of the team’s interest in him.

West made record-breaking records at Towson as a freshman with 1,294 yards rushes and 29 touchdowns. He also led the team to a 9–2 regular season, which happened to be their first CAA Championship. During the offseason, he was named the first winner of the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).

During his junior season in 2013, Terrance West finished third in voting to emerge a finalist for the Walter Payton Award. He played a major role in the Tigers’ wins in the games against Eastern Illinois and Eastern Washington which earned the team a spot at that year’s FCS National Championship game held in Frisco, Texas. They, unfortunately, they lost to the defending champions North Dakota State University Bison by a score of 35–7.

West would forgo his senior season and declared himself eligible for the 2014 NFL Draft in January 2014.

NFL Career

Terrance West began his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns which drafted him 94th overall in the 3rd round of the 2014 Draft. His first game with the Browns was against the Pittsburgh Steelers where he recorded his first 100 yards on sixteen carriers with a 6.3-yard average. He would finish his first season which was his only season with Cleveland Browns with 673 yards rushing on one hundred and seventy-one (171) carries with 4 touchdowns.

The following season Cleveland traded West to Tennessee Titans for a conditional pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. During his tenure with the Titans, he recorded sixteen carries for fifty-one yards and two fumbles, which is twice the number of fumbles he recorded during his rookie season with the Browns.

The Baltimore Ravens signed him to their practice squad in November 2015. He played all of the sixteen games in the 2016 regular season starting thirteen of them. He finished that season with 774 rushing yards, with 193 carries, and 5 rushing touchdowns. In May 2017, he signed an original round tender with the franchise to keep him under contract for the season, unfortunately, he appeared in only 5 games that year due to a calf injury, and finished with 138 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Terrance West signed on with the New Orleans Saints in June 2018 and was released in August of the same year.
