American football player Terrell Suggs turned professional in 2003 following an illustrious college career at Arizona State University. He joined National Football League team Baltimore Ravens following the 2003 NFL Draft and playing in the outside linebacker position, Terrell Suggs has spent the entirety of his long-running NFL career with the Ravens.

Terrell Suggs Bio, Age

Terrell Raymonn Suggs was born on October 11, 1982, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His parents are Laverne Diane (née Kennedy) and Donald Lee Suggs. He grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, however, the family later relocated to Arizona where he schooled at Chandler High School and later moved to Hamilton High School, both in Arizona. In his senior high school year, Suggs was named in the high school All-American team by several notable sports magazines.

Terrell Suggs had his college career at Arizona State University where he played in the Defensive End position for the school’s football team the Arizona State Sun Devils. By the end of his college career, Suggs had accumulated 163 tackles, including an unprecedented 65.5 tackles for losses, and 44 quarterback sacks, 14 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 9 pass deflections and 2 interceptions. In his junior season (2002), He set an NCAA record for the highest number of sacks in one season (24). He was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and was an undisputed choice for the first-team All-American.

Terrell Suggs entered the 2003 NFL Draft where he was selected in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens as the 10th overall selection. He had a highly successful rookie season with 27 tackles, 12 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 1 interception and 2 passes deflected, for which he received the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. He earned his first NFL Pro Bowl selection in 2004 and was also selected for the all-star game in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2017. He earned Second-team All-Pro in 2008 and achieved First-team All-Pro selection in 2011 when he was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Terrell Suggs was also instrumental in the Super Bowl XLVII victory of the Baltimore Ravens for which he received a Super Bowl ring.

His Wife or Girlfriend

Terrell Suggs was previously married to Candace Williams. The couple had a rather volatile long-term relationship even before they got married. Their relationship made tabloid headlines on several occasions owing to allegations of domestic violence among several controversies. One of such allegations happened in September 2012, just 2 months before their wedding and as a result, a temporary protective order was granted against Terrell Suggs by the Baltimore County Circuit Court.

 

Despite their differences, they still tied the knot on December 14, 2012, in a small intimate ceremony held in Maryland. The initial protective order against Terrell was dropped only a few days before the wedding. However, their marriage lasted only 2 years as Candace Suggs filed for divorce in December 2015 citing infidelity by Terrell. They have 2 children together. Since his messy divorce from Candace Williams, Terrell Suggs has not had any serious relationship known to the public.

What Happened to His Teeth?

Early in his career, Terrell Suggs faced several heckling comments due to his unusual grill. Apparently, the Ravens linebacker had particularly small “baby teeth” in comparison to his extensive gums. Interesting he proved adamant to the criticisms as he insisted that he would not get his teeth fixed until he retires from the NFL.

However, all that changed in early 2017 when Terrell Suggs, even though not retired, got his teeth fixed. In addition to improving his general appearance, the teeth job also helped get the haters off his back.

Over the course of his career, Terrell Suggs has battled a number of major injuries which have kept him off his feet for some time and consequently resulted in significant weight gain.
