Teun Koopmeiner’s Career

AZ: Koopmeiners was born in Castricum, North-Holland, and began his football career as a young player for the local club, Vitesse ’22. He joined the AZ youth program at the under-12 level in 2009. He gradually rose through the ranks, and as a member of the club’s reserve squad, Jong AZ, he won the Dutch third division in 2016–17, earning promotion to the Eerste Divisie.

Koopmeiners made his professional debut for Jong AZ on August 18, 2017, in a 3–1 away win over FC Den Bosch. On October 1, he made his first-team debut, replacing Alireza Jahanbakhsh for the final 30 minutes of Feyenoord’s 4–0 home loss. Koopmeiners set up Oussama Idrissi for AZ’s second goal in a 2–0 win against Ajax on March 1, 2020, bringing his team level on points with Ajax. Koopmeiners scored 16 goals in 42 appearances for AZ Alkmaar in the 2019–20 Eredivisie season, helping his team finish second on goal difference behind Champions AFC Ajax.
