Isn’t it fun doing what you have always wanted to do? Shannon Spake, the Fox Sports reporter, counts herself fortunate. In the course of her existence on earth, she has done most of what she’d always wanted to do, against the odds. First, she defied a medical condition to swim competitively all through high school. Then, she went on to prove everyone who said her marriage wouldn’t work wrong.

Shannon had always felt at home in a sports setting, be it a raucous football crowd, a packed college basketball arena or NASCAR pits. Following her graduation from Florida Atlantic University (FAU), she interned for a Miami-based radio talk show and then her career took off. She is a sportscaster, sports reporter, NASCAR reporter, actress, and a television personality as well. Currently, she works in Fox Sports as a correspondent and reporter.

Before joining Fox in 2016 as a three-sport star, Spake worked for ESPN and with MTV, VH1, HBO, and CBS as a TV personality.

Shannon Spake – Bio

Named Shannon Marie Speacht at birth, she was born in 1976, on the 23rd of July in Sunrise, Florida, the United States. Her father, Don Speacht served in Air Florida and she shared a special bond with him. She has many fond memories of him including when he took her to the University of Miami-Notre Dame game at the Orange Bowl in 1987. Other than her father, there is no known fact of the rest of her family members.

Just before she hit puberty, Spake was diagnosed with scoliosis, a medical condition that presents as a sideways curvature of the spine. She had corrective scoliosis surgery at the age of 13 during which two rods were inserted in her back. Notwithstanding, she swam competitively throughout high school and one year at Broward Community College before transferring to FAU.

Years later, she is still active in the endurance sports community. Spake has competed in two full marathons and 70.3 Ironman events as well as many shorter distance triathlons. Spake received a swimming scholarship to Broward College but as previously mentioned, she completed her studies at FAU, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Shannon Spake did her internship at the Neil Rogers Show on Miami’s WQAM in 1999. Then, she became an assistant coordinator of on-air promotions in Nickelodeon later in the year. From 2000 to 2002, she worked with CBS News.

In 2003, Spake served as a production assistant on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel on HBO. She also did freelance production for a number of special TV projects including the MTV Video Music Awards, VH1 Fashion Awards, CBS’ The NFL Today as well as boxing on HBO. Her first on-air job was at WCCB in Charlotte and she also worked at Carolina Sports and Entertainment Television. Her career took off from there.

She joined Speed Channel in 2005 as a reporter and then co-host of NASCAR Nation. Spake also co-hosted Back Seat Drivers, a talk show, with online columnist . Shannon Spake became a member of the ESPN family in 2007 as a part-time reporter but was promoted to a full-time pit reporter the next year. She signed a multi-year contract extension with the network in August 2013. Her contract, however, ended with the 2014 season as ESPN lost the broadcast rights to NBC Sports, beginning with the following season.

Spake currently works at Fox Sports, reporting NASCAR events. Additionally, she co-hosts the NASCAR Race Hub, serves as an NFL sideline reporter, and equally serves as a sideline reporter for the channel’s college basketball and football broadcasts. Shannon Spake joined the Fox Sports in July 2016.

As an actress, the Fox reporter provided the voice of Shannon Spokes in the 2017 Pixar film Cars 3.

Family Life and Husband – Jerry McSorley

Shannon Spake is a happily married woman. She tied the knot with Jerry McSorley, a land developer, on April 14, 2008, at the Augustinian Priory in Ireland following their engagement in Italy. The two share Irish and Italian heritage. Two years after their wedding, on 1st January 2010, the couple welcomed a set of twin boys who they named Brady and Liam.

While celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary, she shared with her followers on Instagram that they have proved everyone who told them their marriage wouldn’t work wrong.
