Thomas Brodie-Sangster is a British actor, producer, musician, and multi-instrumentalist. As a child star, he endeared himself to audiences with his role in the Christmas comedy film Love Actually (2003) alongside .

The multi-talented youngster went on to feature in the highly successful family comedy film Nanny McPhee (2005), The Last Legion (2007) among several others. Thomas Sangster equally has numerous TV roles to his name including that of Jojen Reed in the incredibly popular fantasy series Game of Thrones (2013–2014).

Thomas Brodie-Sangster was born on May 16, 1990, in Southwark, London. He was raised alongside his younger sister Ava Sangster. His father Mark Sangster and mother Tasha Bertram are both actors. His father’s family is originally from the Scottish town of Banchory. His mother is mainly English with minute degrees of Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, French and Belgian ancestry.

There is little information about Thomas Sangster’s early education. However, he had his secondary education at Pimlico School located in the Pimlico area of Westminster, London. Thomas Sangster comes from a family of entertainers. In 2010, he established the band named Winnet in collaboration with his parents Mark Sangster and Tasha Bertram and his sister Ava Sangster. Back in 2006, Thomas Sangster co-founded the London-based independent film company Brodie Films with his mother. However, Brodie Films was closed down in May 2013.

Thomas Sangster made his acting debut on the BBC telefilm Station Jim (2001). This was followed by roles in a number of other telefilms – The Miracle of the Cards (2001), Bobbie’s Girl (2002) and Stig of the Dump (2002). In 2003, Sangster won the Golden Nymph award for Best Actor in a mini-series at the 43rd Annual Monte Carlo Television Festival for his role in the telefilm Entrusted.

Sangster’s role as Sam in the highly successful Christmas comedy film Love Actually (2003) remains one of the most notable roles of his early career. He equally received a number of award nominations for the role. Starting from 2004, he appeared in the BBC children series Feather Boy, based on a novel of the same name. In 2005, he starred in the highly successful family comedy film Nanny McPhee. He also starred in the 2006 epic drama film Tristan & Isolde. 

In 2007, Sangster featured in 2 episodes of the long-running British Sci-fi series Doctor Who. He also starred in the 2007 action film The Last Legion based on a novel of the same title. Sangster lent his voice to the character Ferb Fletcher in the Disney animated series Phineas and Ferb (2007–2015). He equally starred in the romantic biopic Bright Star (2009) as well as Nowhere Boy (2009). That’s not all, Thomas Sangster guest-starred in an episode of the British detective drama series Lewis (2009) and also in the action comedy film The Baytown Outlaws (2012).

Also in 2012, Sangster landed the role of Jojen Reed in HBO’s highly successful series Game of Thrones. He also starred in the Hollywood blockbuster The Maze Runner (2014) and also reprised his role in its sequels Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) and The Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018).

Thomas Brodie-Sangster is in his late twenties. However, he still bears the very fresh looks of a teen actor.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster is in a relationship with fellow British actress and former child star Isabella Melling. Melling is well known for her role in the popular British children’s sitcom My Parents Are Aliens  (1999–2005).

Their relationship dates back to December 2012 however, they kept it very well under wraps until 2016 when they started making public appearances together. Their relationship has had its fair share of break-up rumors, however, this couple has always kept mum on all such rumors.

Prior to his relationship with Isabella Melling, Sangster was previously linked to a set designer and art director named Patience Harding. His relationship with the latter was short-lived as it only lasted from 2008 to 2009.

Judging by his relationship history, one would likely assume that the British actor is straight. The actor has never stated otherwise and he has also not given us any reason to doubt his sexuality. Therefore, we can safely conclude that he is not gay.
