Tim Armstrong is one kingpin who has remained on the scene of American punk rock genre from the 1990s to date. The veteran is popular as the vocalist cum guitarist of the renowned band Rancid, as well as the supergroup, Transplant, though his career took-off long before the bands attained popularity. The revered musician also functions as a songwriter, producer, and an actor.

Before Rancid, Tim was with Operation Ivy – an influential ska punk band, he started Hellcat Records in 1997 after teaming up with Brett Gurewitz. Brett came from Bad Religion music band and is also the owner of Epitaph Records. The renowned vocalist (Tim Armstrong) emerged under the name Tim Timebomb to release several songs through his YouTube channel. He was born and named Timothy Lockwood Armstrong in Albany, California, the United States of America. His birth occurred on the 25th of November 1965. He is an American by nationality and his ethnicity is white. His mum’s identity is not known to the public but according to what is obtainable, she was the one who raised him. Tim’s dad has been identified as Don Armstrong who died at the old age of 81 in June 2012. Tim Armstrong spent his early years alongside two older brothers Greg and Jeff Armstrong. He met his lifelong best friend and bandmate Matt Freeman at the age of 5; they both attended the Little League Baseball in Albany, California, and were in Operation Ivy and Rancid together.

On the academic front, there is no record of any higher education but he attended Albany Middle School, as well as High School with his best friend Matt. As they share the same last name, Tim has often been mistaken for the brother of the frontman of Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong. Anyway, it has been established that there are no blood ties between them, they just happen to be close friends.

Tim would later collaborate with Billie, his nephew Rey Armstrong and Billie’s son named Joey Armstrong to form one supergroup called The Armstrongs, their first single titled If there was Ever a Time came to light in 2017.

His side project was launched in 2012 under the name Tim Timebomb. At first, he did a-download-only album known as “Tim Timebomb Sings Songs from RocknNRoll Theater” which has some tracks from his musical movie series.

The couple’s marriage lasted for barely five years before it ended in divorce in 2003, their union recorded no children and till date, Tim doesn’t seem to have any from subsequent relationships. After going their separate ways in 2003, Bree commenced a relationship with Josh Homme, the frontman of Queens of the Stone Age. It is believed that Tim hastened the divorce after he saw his estranged wife kissing Josh in Rolling Stone Magazine.
