Todd Frazier is an American-born professional baseball player who plays as third baseman for Major League side New York Mets. He played college baseball with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights after which he was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2007 MLB Draft. After an 8-year stint with the Reds, Frazier played for the Chicago White Sox, the New York Yankees before joining the New York Mets in 2018.

The baseball player was born on February 12, 1986, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. Named Todd Brian Frazier at birth, he was raised alongside 2 older brothers in Toms River, New Jersey. He had his high school education at Toms River High School South where he was a member of the baseball team.

As a young player, he was a part of the Toms River East American Little League All-Star team. During his time on the team, they clinched the 1998 New Jersey state championship as well as the US East regional championship. The team advanced to the 1998 Little League World Series and remained invincible throughout the tournament. Frazier was the star of the title game as he went 4-4 with a lead-off home run and also was the winning pitcher.

Todd Frazier had his college education at Rutgers University where he played for the school’s ‘Rutgers Scarlet Knights’. At Rutgers, Frazier created records for home runs, runs scored (87), walks (62), doubles (24) and total bases (187). He also received the 2007 Big East player of the year award. Todd Frazier entered the 2007 MLB draft where he was selected by the Cincinnati Reds.

In his first 3 years, Todd Frazier played for the farm teams of the Cincinnati Reds. He was added to the Reds 40-man roster after the 2010 season, however, he eventually earned his first major league call-up in May 2011. In his first full season with the Reds, Frazier batted .273, 19 home runs and 67 runs batted in RBIs. In November 2012, he received the National League Outstanding Rookie Award by the MLB Players Association. In 2014, he was named for the 2014 MLB All-Star Game as a reserve for the National League team. He was also selected for the 2014 Home Run Derby, however, he lost to Oakland Athletics’ Yoenis Céspedes. He was also selected for the 2015 MLB Home Run Derby which he eventually won.

Todd Frazier joined the Chicago Sox in December 2015 in a 3-team deal which also involved the Los Angeles Dodgers. With the Sox, Frazier was selected for the 2016 MLB Home Run Derby, losing out in the final to Giancarlo Stanton. He finished the 2016 season with a .207 batting average with 16 home runs and 44 RBIs. Frazier was traded to the New York Yankees in July 2017.

On July 26, 2017, Todd Frazier hit his first home run against his former team – the Cincinnati Reds. He finished the season with a combined batting average of .213 with both the Cox and the Yankees including 26 home runs and 77 RBIs. In February 2018, Frazier joined the New York Mets after barely 1 year with the Yankees.

Todd Frazier is currently married to Jacquelyn ‘Jackie’ Frazier (née Verdon). The MLB star met his wife while in college at Rutgers University. Jackie was also an athlete as she was a star gymnast. They dated for a while before getting engaged on November 18, 2011, while holidaying in Mexico. The couple tied the knot on December 14, 2012, in a ceremony held at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, New Jersey.

The Fraziers have 2 children together, a son and a daughter. The couple welcomed their son Blake in March 2014 while they welcomed their daughter Kylie Kimberly in December 2015. Frazier spends his offseason in his hometown Toms River, where the Little League field is named after him.

With the Cincinnati Reds, Todd Frazier earned $527,500 and $600,000 as his salary in 2013 and 2014 respectively. His salary was upped to a whopping $4.5 million in 2015. Frazier’s salary continued to increase after joining the Chicago Sox in December 2015. With the Sox, he earned $8,250,000 in 2016 and $12,000,000 in 2016 and 2016 respectively.

In February 2018, Todd Frazier signed a 2-year $17 million contract with the New York Mets with his 2018 salary pegged at $8,000,000. Frazier’s career earnings are estimated at $33 million

Todd Frazier has Scottish ancestry from his father’s side of the family. His older brothers Jeff Frazier and Charlie Frazier also played professional baseball, however, Todd is the only one of the Fraziers to make it to the major league. Todd Frazier had his brother Charlie pitch for him at the Home Run Derby for 3 years; 2014, 2015 and 2016.

On December 1, 2012, the Toms River Little League indoor hitting facility was renamed after the Fraziers. The field is now known as the ‘Frazier Field House’ in recognition of the contributions of the Fraziers in putting Toms River on the baseball map.
