Thomas Edward Hopper was born in Coalville, Leicestershire, England on the 28th of January, 1985. He first caught the acting bug when he enrolled in a drama class during his elementary days at Ashby School, Leicestershire. As a result of this, Tom Hopper appeared in a production of a musical titled Return to the Forbidden Planet. He went on to study acting at Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance, a drama school located in London, United Kingdom.

He is best known for his roles as Sir Percival in the BBC series – Merlin, Billy Bones in Starz show – Black Sails, Dickon Tarly in the 7th season of the popular HBO series, Game of Thrones and Luther Hargreeves in the Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy. He has been active as an actor since 2007 and has featured in other films and television series over the years.

Tom Hopper played the role of Marcus in the film Tormented (2009) and he featured as Jeff in an episode of Doctor Who (2010). After the end of Merlin (2012), he featured in Good Cop (2012). Other films and television series to his portfolio are Saxon (2007), Cold (2013) which was released as Leopard in the United States, Northmen: A Viking Saga (2014), Kill Ratio (2016), I Feel Pretty (2018), an episode of Casualty (2007), Doctors (2008), Kingdom (2008), and Barbarians Rising (2016). At the beginning of his career, he was in As You Like It at the Watford Palace Theatre, Hertfordshire.

The English actor has also been cast in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and SAS: Red Notice (2020).
