Tomas Berdych is a Czech-born professional tennis player. Early in his career, Berdych recorded his biggest win when he clinched the 2005 Paris Masters title. Tomáš Berdych was born on September 17, 1985, to Hana and Martin Berdych in Moravia, Czechoslovakia (present-day Czech Republic). His father, Martin Berdychová, was a train engineer and he was equally very good at tennis. His mother Hana is a physician.

The young Berdych started practising tennis when he was just five at a tennis centre in his hometown of Valašské Meziříčí, Moravia. He was a top junior player, winning several titles including the Czech Republic U-12 Junior Title. He also won the 2001 US Open Boys’ Doubles title alongside Stephane Bohli before going professional the following year.

After taking part in several Futures and Challenger tournaments, Tomas Berdych eventually clinched his first ATP title at the 2004 Campionati Internazionali di Sicilia in Palermo, Italy. He also put up a good run at the 2005 Swedish Open before losing the final to . He went on to clinch his first ATP Masters Series title at the 2005 Paris Masters.
