When married couples Nancy Lou (née Clark) and Michael Reznor welcomed their son Reznor into the world on the 17th day of May 1965, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, they named him Michael Trent Reznor. Trent has a sister named Tera, however, the siblings barely grew up together as Reznor’s parents would come to divorce when he was just 6 years old and Reznor would then be raised by his maternal grandparents in Mercer.
The musician, who traces his roots down to Germany and Ireland was quite active as a kid. Trent Reznor was a member of the Boys Scout and loved to skateboard and play musical instruments for fun. He started playing the piano from the age of 12 and later began playing the tenor saxophone and tuba. He was part of his high school’s jazz band.
In high school, Trent Reznor was also quite good at acting and was once voted by his classmates as the Best in Drama. Also in high school, Reznor played with the local rock band, Option 30 before he graduated in 1983. After graduation, he proceeded to study computer engineering at Allegheny College, however, he lasted only a year in college as he dropped out and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in a bid to pursue a career in music.

He began recording his own music at Right Track Studio where he had landed a job as a janitor and assistant engineer. Playing all instruments but drums on his music, Reznor in 1988 formed the band Nine Inch Nails and the following year he released his debut album, Pretty Hate Machine which was a big hit propelling him to fame. Trent Reznor is married to Filipino-American singer, songwriter Mariqueen Maandig. The couple tied the knot in October of 2009 and have gone ahead to build a large family together. As of this writing, the couple shares four kids together.
Their first kid, a son named Lazarus Echo Reznor was born a year after they got married on the 10th of October 2010. Two more sons were born to them on the New Year’s Eve of 2011 and on the 1st of November 2015 – Balthazar Venn Reznor is the name of the one born in 2011 while the name of the other has since remained concealed from the media. In December 2006, Trent Reznor and his wife welcomed their daughter whom they named Nova Lux Reznor.
Following their 2009 marriage, Trent Reznor and his wife joined forces to form a musical group How to Destroy Angels which they describe as post-industrial. Before the formation of the group, Reznor’s wife, Mariqueen Maandig was the lead singer of the band West Indian Girl. In her five-year stint with the band from 2004 to 2009, Maandig contributed her vocals to two albums released in 2004 and 2007. Maandig was born on the 5th of April 1981, making Reznor 16 years older than her.
Trent Reznor has recorded tremendous success with his music with over 20 million records sold worldwide. The musician has an Academy Award to his name which came for his collaboration with Atticus Ross to score the 2010 film, The Social Network. Together, they have scored a couple of other films.
