Career and Injury History

Tyler Eifert has a long history of getting injured and it is something that began for him as a younger athlete. He suffered a back injury in 2009 as a freshman in college which meant he only played one game the entire season. After joining the Cincinnati Bengals, he recorded five receptions for 47 yards in his first-ever game for them which was against the Chicago Bears. In his next match, he caught three passes for 66 yards against the Pittsburg Steelers and grabbed a very long catch, considered his longest that season. On December of the same year, he suffered a stinger injury and couldn’t participate in the final game of that season.

During the 2014 season, Eifert again suffered a dislocated elbow from a leg tackle and stayed out of the entire season recovering. In 2015 season he came back stronger, leading his team to victory over the Oakland Raiders with nine receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns. In 2016, after a win over the Baltimore Ravens and earning the 2016 Pro Bowl, a game presented and sponsored by the United Services Automobile Association, he played in team Irvin but injured his ankle.

The same year, he suffered another back pain and went for three surgeries; two for his lingering back pain and the other for removing a cyst from his knee. The injuries he has suffered has greatly affected his career, instead of signing a long-term contract, on March 15, 2018, he signed a one year contract to remain with his team.

Tyler Eifert’s latest one-year contract with the Bengals is worth $5.5 million and includes a $3 million signing bonus, plus a $3 million guaranteed sum.
