Popular talk show host of The Wendy Williams Show is no other person than Wendy Williams herself. Prior to the show Wendy has always had an outgoing personality and the hard work to match it. She has been an on-air personality whose love for talk shows landed her a show of her very own in 2008.
Early Days
Born on July 18, 1964, in Ocean Township, New Jersey where she was also raised, Wendy attended Ocean Township High before enrolling at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts to study Communication. Wendy shared in a video that college was not really a priority for her and she just got in there to enjoy the parties. No wonder throughout her college days she worked as a DJ for the college radio station. Upon graduation, she began her career by working with radio stations first in the Virgin Islands before she got a job in Washington. In 1989, she moved to New York City to work as a DJ for a full-time show where she won the Billboard Award for Best On-Air Radio Personality in 1993. However, due to work restructuring in 1998, she was fired from the station but got a job with a station in Philadelphia not too long after.
Still a New Yorker at heart, the on-air personality moved back to New York City in 2001 to take up a job with the New York airwaves. With the success of her shows and programs, Wendy’s debut talk show was held on July 14, 2008, and it ended up being a huge success. The show is aired on FOX and BET in over 54 countries worldwide.
In 2009, she retired from her radio show officially to concentrate on her tv show and also to have time for her family. She also became a member of the National Radio Hall of Fame that year.
Wendy Williams’ Family, Husband and Son
The TV personality was born to Mr. Thomas Williams Sr. and Shirley Williams a popular family of Asbury Park. She has two siblings; a brother named Thomas Williams Jr. and a sister named Wenda Williams.
Wendy Williams was first married to one Robert Morris back in 1992 but they divorced in 1995. Not much is known about who this Robert is and his name was even a pseudo name used for him by Wendy in her book Wendy’s Got The Heat. Her second marriage was to Kevin Hunter in 1997 and they have an adorable son Kevin Hunter Jr. who was born on 18th August 2000. In spite of her husband cheating on her shortly after the birth of their son, the tv star did not leave him and the pair still have a stable marriage and no news of them breaking up has surfaced.
The TV host and her son have had their struggle with drug abuse but the pair are said to be clean now.
Transgender Rumors
In the world today one gets pretty confused when a woman turns to a man and vice verse with little or no trace of their past features visible. People have actually been spreading rumor ever since her appearance in the limelight, that the show queen Wendy is a transgender but has not come out as one. Wendy has denied all the allegations that she was once a man. In an exclusive interview with ABC News, she held her view that she has not undergone any surgery with regards to changing her sexuality.
The talk show host also interviewed popular transgender actress in the film Orange Is the New Black Laverne Cox who broke the record as the first transgender to get an Emmy Award and used the opportunity to talk about her own transgender rumor. Wendy linked the accusations to her looks especially her height of 5ft 11inches and her masculine shaped face. Although she said she does not get upset by such allegations, she still considers it the worst insult for any woman to be considered a man. She also revealed that she has been dealing with it for years now and that’s why she has developed a thick skin towards such rumors.
