Wes was born as Wesley Carter Welker on May 1, 1981, and his career as a footballer started at Heritage Hall High School in Oklahoma City where he took several leading positions that helped in his team’s winnings. For instance, while in his Junior years, his three touchdowns, 47-yard field goal, over 200 all-purpose yards, and an interception helped in leading the 2A State Football championship over Tishomingo High School. Even while playing with the Iol Bowl in 2000, Wes, who was already named The Daily Oklahoman All-State Player of the Year was able to score a 40-yard field goal for the Oklahoma team. Thanks to his skilful performances during his high school years, he successfully gained a scholarship to Texas Tech where he proved his football prowess playing for the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team. There, he won the Mosi Tatupu Award after tying the NCAA record for touchdowns and scoring returning punts.

As a Professional player, Wes Welker played for teams like the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and St.Louis Rams. He was first signed with the San Diego Chargers in 2004 as an undrafted free agent. The same year, he moved to Miami Dolphins where he signed a two-year contract with them. With the Dolphins where he was mostly used on special times, Wes was able to attain success as he became the second player in the history of the National Football League to make a tackle in a single game, return a kickoff and a punt, and kick an extra point and a field goal.

In 2007, he was signed with the New England Patriots where his career grew higher and, possibly better. Playing with the team for about five years, Wes was able to make much of his career success there- from 2007 to 2009, he was able to lead the NFL with a total of 346 receptions. He also topped three single-season reception totals with a team-record 123 in 2009, 112 catches in 2007 and 111 in 2008. Within his five-year contract with the Patriots, Welker earned a top rank in the yardage after reaching 500 receptions in just 70 games and catching more passes than any player in the league.

Between 2013 and 2015, Welker worked with Denver Broncos after signing a two-year contract worth $12 million and while with them, he was able to make good receptions and touchdowns against such professional clubs as the Baltimore Ravens, Tennessee Titans e San Francisco 49ers, and even the  San Diego Chargers, his former team. Top of it all was the winning of his third AFC championship and Super Bowl appearance after he helped the Broncos defeat his former team, New England Patriots.

After his career with the Broncos, he signed a one-year contract worth $1.8 million with the St. Louis Rams and with them, he appeared in eight games and had about 13 receptions for 102 yards for the 2015 season. His game with the Rams was his last as he ended his seasons with the NFL. He did not feature in any game until on January 30, 2017, when he acquired his first coaching job with the Houston Texans who hired him to serve as offensive and special teams assistant coach. Wes ended his game with a net worth of about $20 million. The amount is bound to increase following his newly acquired job.
